Pierrot is the Isle of Axholme's premier Euro-ceilidh band, entertaining the lower Trent Valley and the wider world with a mix of driving English Ceilidh, Bal Français and Breton Fest-Noz. Scottish music and dance is also a speciality. The instrumental mix includes hurdy-gurdy, fiddle, mandolin, bouzouki, cittern, guitar, acoustic and electric bass, Indian harmonium and an exotic collection of percussion instruments. The band has its own caller to MC and guide the dancing, and its own PA system. While most of our weddings have been in the East Midlands and Yorkshire, Pierrot has been the cause of dancing as far afield as the Lincolnshire Coast, the Welsh Borders, the Yorkshire Dales and Epping Forest.
This kind of dancing is a particularly sociable way of having a wedding (or any other) party, encouraging all the guests to mix and have healthy exercise at the same time. In this way all feel part of the same happy occasion, while reducing the level of guilt generated by all the eating and drinking.
