One Hit Wonders — Why We Do This
Let's be honest: nobody remembers a wedding for the canapés. They remember it for the fifteen minutes where their nan was on the dancefloor next to their mate from uni, both losing their minds to a song neither of them expected to hear that night. That's the moment we exist for. That's the whole job.
We're One Hit Wonders — a London-based function band built by people who genuinely can't imagine doing anything else with a Saturday night. Music wasn't a backup plan for any of us. It's the thing we've been doing since before we could legally get into the venues we now play. Formal training at music college gave us the technical foundation — the chops to actually deliver a Bruno Mars horn line or a Chic guitar riff properly, not just approximate it — but the energy on stage? That's just who we are.
Our setlist spans five decades on purpose: 70s disco, 80s pop, 90s anthems, and everything filling up the charts right now. Soul, funk, disco, pop — genres that were built for one reason, to make bodies move. We treat a wedding reception or a corporate do exactly like a headline show, because as far as we're concerned, for that room on that night, it is one.
Here's the truth about where we're at: we're a newer band. We haven't played Glastonbury, we haven't supported a stadium act, and we're not going to pretend otherwise — you'll find plenty of function bands out there stretching a two-line CV into a highlight reel, and that's just not how we operate. What we will tell you is this: we rehearse like a band with something to prove, because we are one. Every set is drilled until the transitions are seamless, until we can read a room and switch gears without missing a beat, until the four of us are tight enough that it doesn't matter if it's our first outing at your venue — it'll feel like our hundredth.
We bring our own driver and sound engineer, so the logistics of the night are sorted before we've even plugged in a cable. All you need to worry about is which song to request first.
What matters most to us isn't the size of our back catalogue of gigs — it's what happens in the room while we're playing. We want the awkward small-talk phase of the evening to end the second we start our first song. We want your guests exhausted and hoarse by the end of the night, not from politeness, but from actually having the best time. That's not marketing spin — it's the entire reason we picked up instruments in the first place, and it's what we bring to every single show, no exceptions.
