adaptable, classy, friendly, characterful, helpful
Meeting the brief whatever it may be, with a smile and without the client having to worry!
Get what means something to *you* personally, not what everyone has or what's expensive/fancy/fashionable but ultimately just an impersonal thing/service to you.
First get the key details: date and time, location, budget. Check if we're going to play outdoors and check rain cover is sorted if we are (British weather is what it is ... ). Then try and dig into what they like: Are there any requests for specific music? What styles do they want to hear in our performance (which might, or might not, be string quartet versions of what they like in general!)? These stages in particular are good to do by email, because most people planning weddings are working well ahead of time and are very busy so they can pick up whenever they have time - but I'll always pick up the phone (and take notes!) if clients prefer to talk. Finally, check the additional details that make everything run smoothly: Do they want to request a dress code? Do we need to be set up before a given time because of what's happening in what space at what time over the day? Is there anything we need to know about parking / access at the venue? Who should we check in with when we arrive?
Whatever someone last requested we arrange so we can cover it - it'll be running through our heads practically 24/7 for days!
