What is your most memorable wedding?
A private island called La Guerite off the south coast of France. This wedding was simply spectacular, and I love that this couple made room for acoustic options during their day, which was the perfect setting as their guests enjoyed cocktails in the afternoon. Despite also having DJs, they retained the live music element which was so special. It felt great to curate their day with them and their wedding planner, and see it all come together on the day. At the same time - some of the most special other weddings I've performed at are the most intimate kind, where being present for the ceremony and singing the bride down the aisle makes us part of such a special moment in the couple's lives.
Describe your style in 5 adjectives.
Authentic, Beautiful, Atmospheric, Elevated, Warm
What about your business are you most proud of?
Our client testimonials. They are always so full of warmth and enthusiasm. It makes me so happy to have been part of a couple's special moments and to have soundtracked that in some way, and created those lasting memories for them.
What is your No. 1 wedding planning tip for couples?
Try to leave room in your day's schedule for yourselves to just be, and to take a moment to stop and soak in the day you've planned. Sometimes couples try to pack in so much that by the evening it can feel like they've been on the go all day. Trust that once you've planned, come the day itself, you can let go and trust it will be wonderful, and your own relaxed and happy energy will shine through on the day making all your guests so happy to just be there with you!
What is your favourite personal touch you have seen at a wedding?
I have seen some lovely favours on tables over the years, I think one of my favourites were personalised folding hand fans - I kept mine from this wedding forever afterward! Also bubbles instead of confetti.
Describe your typical process with a couple.
We'll discuss all the musical elements of your day and quote in options to suit. This can comprise a consultation call or via email or both. We can also discuss specific songs and I am happy to make recommendations in this area too, for the moments that matter most! In the shorter term before the wedding we can liaise with planners or the couple directly, to have everything in place- arrival time, set times, everything to fit with the flow of your day.
What makes a romantic first dance?
Whatever is memorable and special to you as a couple! sometimes that means we play it live, sometimes couples have a request for a specific version of a song or a re-imagined style of it (given that we offer acoustic/stripped back options) and sometimes I have been known to simply recommend that if the song they fell in love to was the recorded version, that can be the best one to go with! (especially if they have a dance routine planned!)
What is your number one floor-filler?
This depends a little on the crowd we have at a particular wedding but Stevie Wonder never disappoints! We are masters of finding the right mood for the moment, whether that means a chilled relaxed ambiance earlier on followed by enough lively rousing tunes to get people dancing (yes, its very possible with an acoustic line up!) At some parties you just know what is going to unlock the dancefloor - be it Abba or Justin Bieber.
Which band from the past would you most like to have been part of?
Fleetwood Mac.
What is the soundtrack to your life?
Fleetwood Mac. Again.
