Echo Drive Full Description
Echo Drive - a real band available to hire for your event. We don’t sound like a cheesy covers band. We sound like a real band. Starting with Calder’s characteristic, gritty vocal style, we have developed Echo Drive in the way you would an original band. Then we have chosen the biggest hits and performed them in a way that sounds authentic, without deviating from the feel of the original tracks that you know and love. We never use backing tracks that can often lead to stale and rigid performances. We do use live triggering of samples, so that nothing is missing. This means each performance is free to be delivered in a way that feels right for that particular gig. We use a mix of acoustic and electric guitars so we can cover the nu-folk sounds of Mumford and Sons or the Lumineers, for example. We also have a live synth so we can perform dance tracks like Wake Me Up by Avicci and Nobody To Love by Sigma. Beyond that, Echo Drive play a large repertoire of your favourite indie/rock classics from across the decades, including - Stereophonics, The Killers, The Kinks, Queen, Arctic Monkeys, Oasis, Pulp and many more. We delve into funk and party tunes such as Play That Funky Music and Superstition and we can learn a special request - such as a first dance song - within our standard fee. Echo Drive have various line-ups and options, such as Acoustic Solo/Duo, Wandering Echoes (our new mobile duo), 3-Piece Band, Acoustic Band, DJ Service. Running a successful function band is not only about delivering great performances, it’s also about professionalism. This means maintaining high expectations with everything from our equipment to our customer service. We use state of the art digital mixing for ultimate control. Our instruments, backline, fx processors and every single cable in between is maintained to professional standards. Echo Drive is Echo Drive is made up of 4 highly qualified individuals with tonnes of experience in a wide range of industry specific areas.

they were AMAZING!

On the 4th of August Echo Drive performed at our wedding and they were AMAZING! Our guests danced the night away! THANK YOU for performing our requested songs. Dancing to Mumford and Sons is one of our many highlights! I would 100% recommended Echo Drive for any future gatherings and it was a pleasure having them part of our day!

Just amazing! Thank you so much to Calder and the band who performed at our wedding in April, our expectations were truly exceeded. Our guests were blown away and I think the dance floor was jam packed all night!! A professional service from start to finish which included learning the songs we wanted at our ceremony and first dance etc, we had Calder sing at our wedding throughout the day with the band joining for the evening and it was just perfect [...]

I just wanted to say a big thank you to the band for playing at our wedding on the 8th of October. I hope you could tell but we all really enjoyed ourselves. Guests were raving about the music all evening! (and after!) Your cover of our first dance song was perfect so thank you.

FAQs
Find out a bit more from our FAQs

What is your most memorable wedding?

I once performed a wedding ceremony on a moving steam train. This was very strange. Myself and another guitarist were set up behind the couple as they conducted the ceremony, with all the guests seated along the sides, looking in our direction. I fell off my stool as the breaks came on, pulling into the station. But I kept the music going!

Describe your style in 5 adjectives.

Explosive, Impassioned, Authentic, Dynamic and Versatile

What about your business are you most proud of?

I would say that the proof really is in the pudding. So, when we receive such ecstatic comments in testimonials and thank you notes, after the event, it fills us with a sense of pride in our work. Often, clients will say that we made the day, made the night and can't thank us enough. We walk with confidence from these comments. It really is in the eye of the beholder.

What is your No. 1 wedding planning tip for couples?

Enjoy yourself! Don't get bogged down in it all too much. It is about the marriage and not just the day. So, enjoy the celebration. Certainly by the time we start our performance and the final formalities are out of the way, let your hair down and have a night to remember.

Describe your typical process with a couple.

We take pride in our customer service. From the point of initial enquiry to the moment we pack down and leave the venue, we are here to help and advise. As I said elsewhere on the Bridebook profile, no question is too small. We really feel that there isn't anything that would surprise us during a wedding booking process and we know our industry very well indeed. Everyone loves sharing their knowledge, don't they? So, we are here answering e-mails, texts, phone calls at all sorts of ungodly hours. As musicians and self employed people, we are never not at work. I've frequently been known to be replying to e-mails in the middle of the night. The assurance and reassurance of our clients is of utmost importance throughout.

What makes a romantic first dance?

Getting the lyrics right from my personal point of view. We are due to perform the song, "I Wasn't Expecting That" at a wedding soon. I am amazed that the couple are not too bothered about the lyrics in this song which essentially tell the love story where the girl dies of cancer in the end. This is not romance! This is surely not a good omen. We have tried to make them think twice. They said to remove the final verse, but to me, many guests will know what the song is about. I care about the words in songs, so get the right lyrics for the moment.

What is your number one floor-filler?

Mr Brightside by the Killers probably.

Which band from the past would you most like to have been part of?

I am sure we would all have very different answers to each other. For me, Radiohead. Due to the amount of musical experimentation they have gone through.

What is the soundtrack to your life?

My own album, recorded by all members of Echo Drive, titled, We Got Old. Not that I sit listening to it. But it depicts my story as a musician that has led me to work in this area of the business whilst continuing to write and record my own material to a small fanbase. I have to earn a living for my family.
