I help couples create relaxed, well-organised weddings with personal music, confident hosting and a packed dancefloor when it’s time to party. From daytime MC support and all-day coverage to an evening DJ set, I keep things flowing naturally without making the day feel over-formal.

£450 - £995

DJ Mike Hackett Wedding Services Evening DJ — from £450 Professional evening DJ service, normally 7pm–midnight, with tailored music, live mixing, professional sound, lighting and hosting of key evening moments. Daytime MC & Host — from £650 Professional daytime hosting, announcements, introductions, speech support and music to help your wedding flow smoothly. Day-to-Evening Celebration — from £895 Hosting and music from the wedding breakfast into the evening, creating a smooth transition from daytime celebrations to the evening party. All-Day DJ & MC — from £995 Complete DJ and MC support throughout the wedding day through to midnight, including hosting, music, announcements, speech support and the evening party. Booking & Payment Booking fee: £100 for Evening DJ or £150 for the other three services. Final balance is due 14 days before the wedding. Extra time after midnight is £50 per hour, subject to availability and venue restrictions. Optional extras include Selfie Wizard live photo sharing, Tomfoolery party props and the Smart Tech Speed Quiz.

Based in Bristol and covering Bristol, Bath, Cheltenham, Gloucester and the wider South West, Mike brings over 40 years’ experience across radio, clubs, events and weddings.

Mike offers much more than simply playing music. He helps couples create relaxed, well-organised celebrations that flow naturally from the important daytime moments through to a brilliant evening party.

Every wedding is planned around the couple, their guests and their music. Favourite songs, must-plays and suitable guest requests are welcomed, with music mixed live and adapted throughout the evening to suit the room.

Professional sound, venue-friendly lighting and wireless microphones are available, backed by PAT-tested equipment, £10 million Public Liability Insurance, backup equipment and trusted professional backup DJ support.

Optional extras include Selfie Wizard live photo sharing, Tomfoolery party props and the Smart Tech Speed Quiz.

Mike is also a member of The Professional Emcee Association (PMCA) and combines professional hosting with a relaxed, personal approach — helping key moments run smoothly without anything feeling forced or over-formal.

As it was a big celebration (combined 50th and 60th birthdays and 20th Wedding anniversary) we wanted it to be just right and Mike certainly delivered. I know Mike from working with him about 20 years ago. When I needed to find a D.J. for a 70th family party I didn't think twice. I remembered he always did his job really well back then and really didn't want to pay lots of money for a person to turn up with a laptop! Anyone can do that! We were definitely not disappointed. HANDS DOWN the best I've seen at work in a very long time. His work starts weeks before the event. He took the time prior to the party to get to know the birthday girl and boy by asking for their favourite tracks, oh and what to avoid! Always helpful when you have 7 kids with awful taste! When we had any queries he replied almost straight away. This is an underrated bonus when you have a million things to prepare and are panicking :D He had everyone from 4 to 74 tearing up the dance floor all night. He did an especially amazing job of integrating our "must plays" with his own picks, which we encouraged him do as he got a sense of the crowd. The dancing music was the best, and the music earlier in the night was at a perfect background level of noise for the buffet - no one had trouble hearing each other. He even scheduled in speeches. Anyways, it was perfect. We will always use Discos For Hire in future. 🤗🤗

Still loving what I do after 40+ years and being trusted to play a part in so many couples’ weddings. That trust means more to me than any single award.

What is your No.1 wedding planning tip for couples?

Meet your suppliers, either in person or virtually. Ask questions, share your ideas and be honest about what matters to you. Great weddings start with great communication.

What is your favourite personal touch you have seen at a wedding?

The little details that reflect the couple’s personality. Music, stories, traditions and even small touches can become something memorable when you understand why they matter.

Describe your typical process with a couple.

We first chat to make sure we’re a good fit.
Once booked, we plan your music, timings and hosting together.
Final details and the balance are due 14 days before the wedding.
We have a final catch-up before the big day.

What makes a romantic first dance?

Being surrounded by the people who matter most, with everyone sharing one special moment together. Those are often the memories couples and guests remember for years.

What is your number one floor-filler?

There isn’t one! Every wedding crowd is different. I’d rather read the room and adapt live than rely on one supposed “magic” track.

Which band from the past would you most like to have been part of?

The Rat Pack — pure showmanship, charisma and timeless style. If ever there was a group of entertainers with genuine X factor, that’s a great place to start.

What is the soundtrack to your life?

My soundtrack would be a real mixture — soul, disco, great pop, dance, classics and plenty of surprises. A bit like a good wedding dancefloor.
