Number 1 tip!…..Always arrange a consultation with your DJ, preferably meet in person. Outline the general timings for the day, do you have a toast master? if not, would you like your DJ to make the various announcements throughout the day? have you thought about breakfast music, ask your DJ to make sure the guest book is signed? discuss the cutting of the cake, the first dance, music preferences? Have you thought about the last song? This is more important than you think, what if the DJ chooses something you don’t like? Setup times for the DJ is important too, for example, can they setup in the morning to avoid any delays later in the day if things are running behind? if they can't, what is the turnaround time for the room? Does your venue require the DJ to present PAT test and public liability insurance? Is your DJ’s setup photograph friendly? There’s so many things to discuss and I’ve only mentioned a few here to highlight the importance of meeting your DJ so they know exactly how the day will run and what is expected from them to help make your day run perfect

Typical process always starts with an email or Facebook message, naturally followed by lots of questions. Some clients choose to call me on the telephone, either email or telephone questions are welcome. If the client chooses to book, I send deposit payment details to secure the date, followed by a meeting to discuss the finer details a few weeks before the big day.

A romantic first dance song choice has to be a song that has some sort of meaning for the couple, for example, a song from when they first met, or sometimes simply a song they both love. Surprisingly, some couples can't think of a romantic song that means something to them, and some even choose something upbeat and fun to help get the party started.

The number one floor filler is not as straight forward as one might think. Being dynamic with the music to play what genres or songs the atmosphere dictates is essential, often in the form of requests from the guests. Although I consider myslef a master a choosing tracks that work, the audience is the best judge.

Loving music so much means that the soundtrack to my life takes on so many forms throughout the years, I suppose it's the same for everyone, music taps into the ups and downs of everyone's life and evokes those sad and happy times within out emotions. The beauty of my job is creating new and happy memories using music as the tool!
