Art of Piano: Pianist for every occasion Full Description
Hello! My name is Aidan Goldstraw, and I'm a very experienced solo pianist for weddings, civil partnerships, parties, corporate and other key events. I play all styles of music, including classical, jazz and pop, and have a vast repertoire to call upon for each individual occasion. As well as solo piano, I can also offer various configurations and styles of groups to enhance your special occasion, from duo up to sextet and in styles ranging from straight-ahead party band to a swinging 'Rat Pack' experience. I am a full-time professional musician and as such, I'm available throughout the UK (and overseas by arrangement). I have appeared at many of the country's top venues, including Blenheim Palace, Woburn Abbey, The Dorchester and The Savoy. You will enjoy the advantages of working with a friendly professional who will provide support and feedback throughout the process, including formal contracts.

FAQs
Find out a bit more from our FAQs

What is your most memorable wedding?

My first time at Blenheim Palace. As well as my solo work, I also accompanied opera/crossover singer Laura Wright (then a member of 'classical girl band' All Angels) and to cap it all, the meal was being filmed for the BBC's Masterchef programme, so I had Greg Wallace and John Torode regularly peering over my shoulder!

Describe your style in 5 adjectives.

Inventive, Melodic, Smooth, Detailed, Expressive

What about your business are you most proud of?

Going from a web site to a fully-fledged business in less than a year.

What is your No. 1 wedding planning tip for couples?

Don't stress, and accept that 99.9% of weddings never run to an exact timetable – relax and enjoy it!

What is your favourite personal touch you have seen at a wedding?

A couple of weddings where the bride and groom had their pet dog attend and play a part. As an animal-lover myself, that's always great to see!

Describe your typical process with a couple.

No wedding is the same as another, so the key is listening to what the couple want, and doing my best to achieve it. I start by taking some very basic details and framing a contract, but after that it's entirely up to the couple as to how much they want to customise the experience.

What makes a romantic first dance?

It has to have some emotional resonance or significance for the couple. Get that in place, and romance does the rest!

What is your number one floor-filler?

Solo pianists aren't really 'floor-fillers' by definition but when I play in a band situation, the answer to that question is definitely Superstition by Stevie Wonder.

Which band from the past would you most like to have been part of?

The Beatles – what else?

What is the soundtrack to your life?

Every kind of music possible, basically! I've been mad about music since I was a small child, and started learning the piano when I was five.
