What is your most memorable wedding?
I absolutely love all of my weddings and none are the same which is why I love my job. I love watching and feeling all the happy vibes that come along with weddings. I like to remember every couple that I have had the pleasure of working with.
Describe your style in 5 adjectives.
Boho, festival, friendly, relaxed, flexible
What about your business are you most proud of?
I have been in event management for over 10 years and have hosted weddings and events all over and in various venues, structures and spaces. I saw lots of aspects that I liked and some that I thought worked and some that didn't. I had the idea of wanting a moveable venue, with not too many overheads, but to be able to offer the flexibility and for couples to not be tied into package deals or high pricings that can sometimes come with venues. We have work, graft, love, laugh, sing and banter with our team and we have never borrowed to buy. We work, we earn, we reinvest, in our company and our staff.
What is your No. 1 wedding planning tip for couples?
Don't be afraid to ask questions. There is no such thing as a stupid question. We ask that you share your budget ideas with us. Not because we want to spend it but because we want to save you money wherever we can. In turn, we will share with you money saving tips on how best to achieve the best day with your budget and advise and share our huge amount of suppliers who we have hand picked and worked with over the years.
What is your favourite personal touch you have seen at a wedding?
A grandfather had the pleasure of the first dance with the bride. He was a little unsteady on his feet and walked with crutches. As he got to the bride, he threw his crutches on the floor and danced with his Grandaughter. Such a heartwarming moment. One I will never forget as he was so proud.
Describe your typical process with a couple.
After an initial enquiry, I will ask for guest numbers and location. Once I have these details, I send a comprehensive, detailed email which includes a tipi quote, advice on our mobile bar and event management service, 360 tours of the tipis, links to our social media, a brochure which details how we work, some selected information on suppliers.
If couples like this idea, I then go into detail on suppliers, share some costing with them on a variety of suppliers such as florists, bands, DJ's. caterers, generator and toilet hire companies, photographers, evening food options and cost saving ideas. I send over budget ideas of what they might expect to spend with their specific numbers and an example itinerary as to how the day might run.
How do you create an ambiance in a marquee?
The tipis are magically, enchanting structures to hold a wedding and need very little in the way of decor. We do offer our table decor for free and have a wide range available so save couples some of these simple costs. We have a variety of other furniture and items that couples can add such as chillout furniture, crates and cases for cards, keep cosy blankets and baskets, milk churns, stag antlers, log rounds...all sorts!
Where is the most exciting place that you have put a marquee?
There are so many lovely places we have put the tipis up but my favourite to date, was a four tipi set up at the top of the Welsh hills looking down on an expanse of spectacular scenery. I love putting them up by the water too.
What is your record time for putting up your marquee?
The tipis take longer to erect than a clearspan marquee because of their structure and design but for us, the most important thing is for you as a couple, to have time to decorate it for your wedding. We usually allow a day clear for this and we can help you if you would like us to. We do this for free if you are having our bar and event management. As a general rule, they take 2 days to go up and 1 day to come down, depending on what is in them.
What is your favourite design of marquee and why?
Tipis, of course because of their magically, enchanting nature
