What is your No. 1 wedding planning tip for couples?
PEOPLE love flowers!! If you take the plunge and add 'wedding flowers' as a priority with a trustworthy florist who knows their stuff, trust us, you will be applauded for your decision. We hear from couples all the time that guests couldn’t stop talking, commenting, 'ooohing and ahhing' over the flowers. Photographers love taking extra photos of them. Grandparents love taking arrangements at the end of the evening, and your bridesmaids won’t stop squealing when their bouquets arrive. Flowers evoke joy and celebration; and who wouldn’t those qualities infused into their day?!
What is your favourite personal touch you have seen at a wedding?
Here at The Topiary Tree Florist nothing gives us more pleasure than to see our couples filled with pure excitement when they see their florals! Over the last twenty years it has been a great privilege to create some truly unique and very emotive Heirloom Bouquets.
In recent months, we have been personally commissioned to work two small antique family portraits into one Bride’s bouquet. The beautiful antique frames housed a small portrait of her grandparents who had sadly passed away, she wanted to remember them on her big day and asked what we could do. We designed a completely unique bouquet which discretely held the two pictures in place, the bouquet was beautiful!!
Describe your typical process with a couple.
Getting to know our couples is what drives our planning process. It gives us the opportunity to learn about you, your personality, your style and most importantly, your vision for one of the most important days of your life. We want to reassure every couple that they don’t need to have an extensive (or indeed any) knowledge of flowers in order to achieve something that is truly beautiful and bespoke to them. During your initial private consultation, we’ll ask about your wedding theme and colour schemes, about your likes and dislikes, the church or venue and a rough idea of quantities.
These initial meetings always end in an explosion of ideas!! We’ll consider every nuance, the fragrance of your bouquet and how it sits against your dress, which flowers hold a special place in your heart, what overall feeling your flowers should evoke.
During your private 'in person' appointment (approximately 2 - 3 months prior to your wedding date) we’ll enjoy an often lengthy discussion, talking through all your plans and ideas, revisit your wedding theme and colour schemes, confirm final quantities, timings and logistics.
Sharing our extensive knowledge, ideas and advice, the design of your wedding flowers is created after truly understanding your style, loves and aspirations. We are here to alleviate any stress and make the journey of choosing your wedding flowers one which will deliver an end result to take your breath away.
What is the most interesting thing you have put in a bouquet?
The most interesting bridal bouquet was when a bride explained that she simply couldn’t be without her lip-gloss at any cost and was quite beside herself at the idea she wouldn’t have it to hand on her wedding day. Together, we came up with the ingenious idea of incorporating a secret compartment within her bridal bouquet which held her lip-gloss and a tiny mirror. She loved it and it worked a treat, her lips were glossy all day and she exuded confidence.
