The Gilded Lily Full Description
We operate on an appointment only basis ensuring that when you come to discuss your floral plans for your BIG DAY that you are not interrupted by anyone "popping in" for an occasional bunch of flowers. It is crucial that dedicated time is afforded to this most important time of planning. So, we personally ....... plan, we cost out, we listen (carefully !), we prepare, we deliver, we pin on buttonholes, we hug !, we flounce dresses, we mop tears, we straighten ties, we set up & we dismantle when it's all over ! & hopefully we stay in touch & you send me wonderful images of your precious day !

Personal Message from the Manager

Welcome - Trained by the renowned (well in the floral world) Judith Blacklock of Knightsbridge, I discovered a passion for all things floral after completing a Masters Degree in Business Administration. So, back in 2000 I set up the Gilded Lily Business from my unit in Chorley. From buttonholes to bouquets to church & venue displays - skilled and experienced florists to help make your day even more special - please contact me for your personal appointment.

FAQs
Find out a bit more from our FAQs

What is your most memorable wedding?

All are quite memorable & unique - but, maybe the one when the bride suddenly decided she didn't like "PINK" after all !!! Despite copious plans & discussions - a major rework of all to remove & replace pink with white ! That was memorable !!

Describe your style in 5 adjectives.

Passionate, Happy, Service orientated, Willing, Fair, Approachable

What about your business are you most proud of?

That I started the business from nothing & built it up personally through sheer hard work. I didn't buy an existing business but simply grew it year on year. And, with me it's PERSONAL.

What is your No. 1 wedding planning tip for couples?

Trust your suppliers, question their experience, don't over plan....... keep a spreadsheet of expenses & try to stay as close as you can ..........let the big day develop naturally...... DO NOT STRESS !!

What is your favourite personal touch you have seen at a wedding?

A bouquet of red roses from the groom for his bride before the ceremony.............lots of tears ! Oh no the make-up !!!

Describe your typical process with a couple.

Initial meeting for approx 1hr, to work through the list of items needed- bouquets, buttonholes, corsages, venue displays. Colour scheme, wedding theme (if there is one) Types and colours of flowers the couple like and don't like. From this I construct an outline plan with itemised costs so that the couple can see exactly where the costs are allocated & if they need to increase or reduce their budget they can use this as a good guide. As time progresses & changes to the plan are made a new plan is drafted & issued until we get to the week of the wedding when we finalise the plan & agree delivery details on the day.

What is the most interesting thing you have put in a bouquet?

Not so much interesting but sentimental - lockets with images of a lost loved one - another big tear jerker on the day......

Is there a flower that has specific symbolism that you would recommend for couples?

Roses, Roses & more Roses !!!

What is the most romantic flower and why?

Roses, Roses & more Roses !!! - they are associated with LOVE & passion especially red roses & have been used across many many romantic theatre productions - such as Beauty & The Beast - roses started cultivation over 5000 years ago ! Romans would fill their bedroom chambers with roses & scatter rose petals to create a soft & fragrant bed - say no more !!

What should you do with the flowers after the wedding?

Take them home !, gift them to special guests, lay them on the grave of a loved one, maybe have the bridal bouquet (or elements from it framed in a paper weight or other small item
