What is your No. 1 wedding planning tip for couples?
Flowers are integral to transforming spaces and enhancing features within a venue. Adding larger displays, or something a little out of the ordinary ensures the decor is uniquely yours on your wedding day.
I always advise couples to consider having larger floral creations, rather than spreading your budget thinly throughout your wedding venue. You definitely get 'more bang for your buck' plus most floral installations (where possible) can be repurposed from ceremony to reception. They really transform each space and evoke that WOW reaction from your guests.
Repurpose everything you can from your ceremony to the wedding breakfast. It can really help keep the overall floral cost down.
Describe your typical process with a couple.
Once I receive a new enquiry from protentional couples, I book them in for a consultation to discuss all their floral needs for their special day. Throughout my consultations, I try to get to know each couple better whilst understanding what their overall plans and vision are for their special day. Once I have a general idea of what florals they require, I create an estimated cost tailored to them. If they are happy and would like to proceed with booking MFA as their wedding florist, I ask that a booking fee is paid, and our floral contract signed.
10 weeks prior to the couple’s big day, I schedule a catch-up call where we run over everything in finer detail, double check all quantities and arrange delivery times and details.
A final proposal is then created, including mood boards, botanical ingredients, reference images and a detailed description of each floral arrangement. This allows each couple to visualise the overall chosen aesthetic for their wedding. Once confirmed, our flower orders are made.
All florals are created, delivered, and set up at their chosen venue/s. Once married and the ceremony is over, turnaround of the wedding breakfast set up begins, repurposing ceremony arrangements.
What should you do with the flowers after the wedding?
Most couples either hand out the arrangements to family and friends, or donate them to local hospices. As for bridal bouquets, there are many different preserving options available now, however I would advise that you book whichever service you choose in advance.
