I'm Melissa of Melissa kay floral design (Kay is my middle name), and most people call me Mel. I live in Nottingham with my husband and 2 children (12 & 6) and our British shorthair cat, Buddy.
I love all things flowery, but it wasn't until a few years ago that I decided to train in floristry and have a career change from working in the NHS. I love being creative and absolutely love wedding florals!

Hi, I'm Melissa, a floral designer based in Nottingham.
My passion for all things floral sparked a few years ago after I had spent a number of years searching for a creative career that I really loved.
After some time studying floral design and working for a great florists and events company my love for flowers has only continued to grow.
I absolutely love designing and creating wedding florals!
I enjoy all parts of creating beautiful designs for a couples special day, from discussing colour palettes and seasons to creating a beautiful bridal bouquet

Don't stress! Dedicate a little time to planning each week and keep a well maintained 'to do list'

What is your favourite personal touch you have seen at a wedding?
I really love an audio guestbook! Being able to keep hold of such lovely, personal messages that are frozen in time.
Describe your typical process with a couple.
My average booking process goes like this:
* You enquire with a message, an email, the enquiry form via my website etc.
* I reply asking you for a few more details/inspiration images ( If you have any), we discuss your vision. This step can be done in person or via zoom if preferred.
* I will put together a quote and moodpboard and send this over.
* If you would like to go ahead and book I take a £50 booking fee to secure your date and this is deducted from your final balance.
* We will book in a meeting discuss everything in more detail (this varies depending on the time of year and how far in advance you have booked).
* around 8 weeks before the wedding we will meet/zoom to have a final details meeting. Here we can make any adjustments before your final balance is due.
* 6 weeks before the wedding the final balance is due.
* IT'S YOUR WEDDING DAY! I'll be there delivering and setting up your flowers.
This is just a rough guide and I am happy to work with you to make your booking and planning process as easy as I can for you.
What should you do with the flowers after the wedding?
Lots of brides love to preserve their flowers. There are many ways to display them and I would advise booking this service in advance.
