What is your most memorable wedding?
For me, weddings with bold or interesting colour schemes are always the most memorable. I love the simplicity of whites and greens, but colour brings so much personality and 'wow' to a design!
Describe your style in 5 adjectives.
Bespoke. Relaxed. Elegant. Delicate. Wild.
What about your business are you most proud of?
It makes me so proud when couples are inspired by wedding flowers I’ve designed for other couples. I’ve always seen floristry as an art form, so to have couples see my work and ask for it to be replicated for their own day is a huge compliment.
What is your No. 1 wedding planning tip for couples?
If you’re thinking about including colour in your flowers, do it! Even something as simple as adding blush or nude to a neutral colour scheme adds so much interest to the overall look. If you’re struggling to choose a colour scheme, think about which colours represent the time of year you’re getting married in. Spring for me means lemon, apricot, lilac, whilst Autumn means cappuccino, toffee, taupe…
What is your favourite personal touch you have seen at a wedding?
One bride asked for her mother’s wedding earrings to be incorporated into her flowers. One earring was attached to the ribbon of her bouquet, and the other was added to her mum’s corsage.
Describe your typical process with a couple.
If I’m available for your wedding date, I’ll send an enquiry form for you to fill out and return to me.
From there, I’ll give you an initial quote based on your answers and maybe a few other questions.
If you’re happy with the quote and would like to go ahead with the booking, I ask for a deposit to secure your date before arranging a consultation.
The consultation normally takes place 3-6 months before your wedding date. This is where we’ll talk through the details of your day and create a more detailed brief. If you’re struggling to visualise what you’d like for your wedding florals, I can put together a moodboard to help with this, as well as a list of suggestions and ideas that fall within your budget.
Two weeks before your wedding date we’ll arrange a phone call to run through timings for the day and check if anything’s changed.
I’m available anytime between booking and your wedding day to answer questions or give advice.
What is the most interesting thing you have put in a bouquet?
I love to use different textures when I'm designing wedding flowers. For me, twisty stems, fuzzy textures and organic shapes add so much interest to any arrangement.
Is there a flower that has specific symbolism that you would recommend for couples?
I think all flowers are romantic, but if you're lucky enough to be planning for a Spring wedding, then Tulips symbolise a 'perfect love' which is very apt for a wedding! They are such a beautifully delicate, versatile flower, and with so many gorgeous colours and hues, there will always be one that compliments your colour scheme.
What should you do with the flowers after the wedding?
You are free to take any or all of the flowers from your wedding home to enjoy, there are also lots of ways to preserve the flowers from your bouquets should you wish to, such as drying or pressing. If you opt for large arrangements and installations, I offer a post-wedding service where I take down the flowers and arrange them into bouquets which can then be gifted to guests or donated to local care homes or hospices.
