What is your most memorable wedding?
Your first will always stay with you. My first wedding of my own was for my primary school 'first love' - ha. We'd known each other since we were 3, lost touch after secondary school and randomly he popped up to ask me if I'd be willing to do his wedding flowers the following year. I'd been a florist for 6 years at this point but never done any work for myself, without his push I never would have taken the plunge to go full woman boss!
Describe your style in 5 adjectives.
Colourful, Fun, Bespoke, Personal and Packed!
What about your business are you most proud of?
Showing my daughter you can be your own boss, have fun, get creative, make memories, make a living and be proud of working hard.
What is your No. 1 wedding planning tip for couples?
Focus on the things that make YOU happy, not what you think your guests will like. Flowers everywhere would be a dream, but I will never convince anyone to spend money somewhere if it won't be seen or appreciated by all. It's your day and if you do it the way you want, it'll forever be timeless to you!
What is your favourite personal touch you have seen at a wedding?
Bud vases as a table plan, for guests to find their own bud vase and take it to the table and then keep after the big day!
Describe your typical process with a couple.
I like to start with a consultation over the phone or zoom to establish your wants, theme and budget and to get a feel for you as a couple whilst you also get to know about me and what I can offer you!
After our call, I'll put together a proposal with some visuals and your final quote for you to mull over and make sure it aligns with your vision.
Should you decide to book me, I require a 30% deposit based on the amount agreed at the time of booking and I am at your beckon call from the day you book until the day you get married. Answering any questions along the way and following the flow of the roller coaster of wedding planning. You're free to chop and change your ideas as much as you need during the planning process, as I know how much ideas blossom and grow during wedding planning.
I will then get in touch with you about 6 weeks before the wedding to discuss your final ideas and get everything set in motion. Your final balance is due 4 weeks before the big day and when it comes round I will be there from the moment I can set up to get your florals in order. I will even collect anything needed the following day, to reduce stress and efforts on your part!
What is the most interesting thing you have put in a bouquet?
Not in a bouquet as such, but I ADORE doing dog collar flowers!
Is there a flower that has specific symbolism that you would recommend for couples?
If you like it, it's got its own symbolism and meaning. What I might like, you might not. Keep things personal to you.
What is the most romantic flower and why?
Oh I could never be set on just one flower, my favourite changes so seasonally!
Springtime, I love incorporating bouncy ranunculus, so many colours and varieties and just a firm favourite. That and forget-me-nots when I can get my hands on them. Not a strong cut flower but sentimentally, a great one.
In the summertime, I love my garden roses. So many with names that could end up being personal to you. At my own wedding I had Notting Hill and Kensington Gardens roses in my bouquet as it was where me and my Husband had our first date.
Nothing beats a Dahlia in Autumn, such a fun flower with an amazing variety.
What should you do with the flowers after the wedding?
If you want to preserve your flowers, you need to source a supplier in advance who will be able to guide you on the best way to do this. From resin casts, to paintings or pressed frames, there are many ways you can keep your flowers as a memento. My advice would be to supply a vase or add one on to keep your bouquet hydrated during the wedding day so it can be in its best condition for sending away for preservation.
