What is your most memorable wedding?
Once we had the opportunity to do a Disney themed wedding, every centrepiece was based on a different film! We had a mini magic carpet with lamp surrounded by flowers for Aladdin, a stack of teacups for Alice in Wonderland, a dome with a rose inside for Beauty and the Beast... It was such a pleasure to plan and the couple were just lovely!
Describe your style in 5 adjectives.
Unique, luxurious yet affordable, and always personal
What about your business are you most proud of?
The effect our work has been able to have, we've been an important part of so many lovely couple's big days, it's an absolute privilege.
What is your No. 1 wedding planning tip for couples?
Get in early! It's never too early to plan, you'll have a much better idea of budget and can spread out the cost if you give yourself enough time to do so.
What is your favourite personal touch you have seen at a wedding?
We often provide bouquet charms: little photo frames of loved ones attached to the bridal bouquet in honour of those who can't attend but are in our hearts.
Describe your typical process with a couple.
Usually we meet up for a chat in our shop, if the couple already has an idea they like we'll look through some photos, suggest specific flowers that might be good, we might get some of our venue styling items for hire out so that we can see them in person. Once we have a good idea of the vision and feel of the wedding we go over the specific requirements (number of bouquets, etc), this can always be altered as we get closer to the day. Then we go away and get the consultation Notes and a quote written up, gather any photos and inspiration pics and send everything over by email. If they'd like to book with us we require a small booking fee, once that's done we can start planning the little details like the ribbon colours and fabrics, we can buy in any glassware, etc that's needed. If they like we can arrange follow up appointments to go over everything and make any changes, I'm always available to chat by Facebook, Instagram, phone or email too.
What is the most interesting thing you have put in a bouquet?
A gopro! So the bride could film her walk down the aisle herself!
Is there a flower that has specific symbolism that you would recommend for couples?
I think every couple has their own story and relationship with flowers, we've had yellow roses because they were the first flower the groom bought for his bride when they were dating. We've had blue muscari because it grows in the garden of the couple's first house together. I'd encourage everyone to look at their own relationship and see what fits them.
