What is your most memorable wedding?

My most memorable wedding was Sophie and Jim’s. They got married in May 2019 on a beautiful hot summers day at the most fabulous Welsh venue Coed. A unique venue set in unspoilt ancient woodland, yet not too far from busy Cardiff. Their gorgeous wedding day was a relaxed and informal celebration of love with their close family and friends. Sophie and Jim wanted their flowers to reflect the wild and natural vibe of their venue. Sophie dreamed of a textured bouquet with lots of draping foliage and flowers in her and her bridesmaid’s hair. I created for her a bridal bouquet full of fragrant eucalyptus and ferns with large sculptural succulents and thistle, softened with dainty wax flower and astrantia. Sophie and her bridesmaids wore wild complimenting foliage in their hair. Buttonholes for Jim and his groomsmen were a combination of fresh and dried flowers and foliage to match the bridal flowers. Jims buttonhole included a pheasant feather that looked great next to his brown floral tie and tweed suit! The evening before Sophie and Jim’s wedding day with Coed’s permission we gathered ivy and wild flowers from the forest to decorate the ceremony room arch and staircase creating a truly magical forest scene. I adored creating Sophie and Jim’s wild and relaxed wedding flowers and was so pleased that the colours I chose for her complimented the stunning Welsh scenery surrounding their unique, bohemian venue so perfectly.

Describe your style in 5 adjectives.

Quirky, wild, artistic, unique, colourful

What about your business are you most proud of?

I love my business and I’ve worked hard to continue to expand and diversify during these very difficult times. I am so proud I’ve been able to offer my brides and grooms a bespoke floral design service that is really special and personal to them. I aim to build a strong working relationship with my client’s based on trust and excellent customer service.

What is your No. 1 wedding planning tip for couples?

Choose wedding suppliers you can build a real connection with! It's so much easier to communicate your ideas to someone who really gets you!

What is your favourite personal touch you have seen at a wedding?

I love to see a couple's personality in their weddings. My friend loves tattoos and had a temporary tattoo bar at her reception so we could all share her passion! I also love personalised wedding favours at my wedding I spray painted plastic animal's gold, hand stamped each guest's name on a luggage label and gave them out as animal mascots! Everyone loved it! At a wedding I'm doing next year my bride has asked me to make buttonholes for all her close friends and family so they feel like extra special VIP guests. I love this idea!

Describe your typical process with a couple.

My booking and consultation process varies with each couple because everyone is unique. However, typically we have an exchange of ideas with images via email, facebook or instagram so I can get a rough idea of my couple’s vision and budget. Next we pick up a call, or meet in person for a chat to flesh out the details and get excited about wedding planning and flowers! After this consultation I put together a detailed, personalised quote and mood board for my couple to sign off. If my couple is happy I take a £100 non refundable booking fee to secure my couple’s date and then the rest of the balance in usually due around 3 weeks before their wedding date. I’m here for my brides and grooms as much or a little as they need from this point. I usually get in touch with my couple’s a month or so before their big day to finalise their flower order and styling. I also love to visit their wedding venue with them and have extra chats and catch-ups along the way if they need me. Especially good to keep the communication going in these very uncertain times!

What is the most interesting thing you have put in a bouquet?

Cotton seed heads! They looked amazing in Kerry’s winter wedding bouquet. I love blending dried flowers and seed heads with fresh florals, it creates amazing textures and really helps create a seasonally inspired theme.

Is there a flower that has specific symbolism that you would recommend for couples?

Ivy means marriage- great in a trailing wedding bouquet and can’t get more of an appropriate meaning! My favourite flowers to work with are Dahlias- they are bold and sculptural and come in so many colours and shapes. Their flower meaning is commitment so another very appropriate choice for your wedding.

What is the most romantic flower and why?

For me I’d say daisies are one of the most romantic flowers. They symbolise purity, loyalty, love, and innocence. They create beautiful movement in floral displays, I love their little nodding heads!

What should you do with the flowers after the wedding?

Dry or press them if you can! I had loads of jam jars at my wedding 100 in total so I gave them away after the wedding as thank you presents to my guests
