Live Painting
See Emily Paint Full Description
Live painting is a wonderful way to fully translate the atmosphere of the day. As a professional artist with a passion for painting, Emily will aim to bring an extra special element to your day by immortalising it in an original piece of art. A painting can illustrate the magic at a celebration in ways that photographs don’t always show. Furthermore, having a live artist at your wedding is a unique form of entertainment and your guests will enjoy seeing the picture unfold throughout the festivities. Based in south east Essex, Emily has sold her paintings through London-based galleries and at art fairs. With a BA (hons) degree in Fine Art and a postgraduate qualification in teaching, she has taught art to all ages. Emily has always loved painting people and trying to convey their personality in a likeness. Her well-rounded style can be applied to landscapes as well as figures; just what's needed for painting celebrations!

A great piece of art!

We enjoyed meeting Emily, she was so professional and made us feel so comfortable in the fact that she was a superb artist. We married a long time ago, but chose our favourite image for Emily to paint. She did this excellently! Our painting is just beautiful, would have loved to have had a live painting all those years ago. Now we have a very personal, original piece of artwork! That we will never tire of. :) Fantastic service! Cannot reccomend enough!

Such a lovely keepsake!

Emily is my sister and she painted our piece from a photo after the event as she was a bridesmaid on the day. I know I may be biased but I absolutely LOVE our painting - its such a fantastic reminder of our beautiful day and I couldn't recommend it enough as an addition to your wedding. If Emily wasn't my sister I would definitely have invited her to paint live on the day as it's great entertainment for the guests to see the painting unfold during the day. And she's a lovely person to have around so win win :-)

The best thing I did to remember my day - thank you.

Emily is so talented, the painting she did of us is beautiful and the best way to remember the day. Hanging on my wall I see it every day, photos are tucked away in an album. But the painting brings back lots of memories which will last forever. Emily is very professional, calm and it makes a great talking point during the day when people watch her paint. Thank you Emily. Such an amazing treat which is so special. Xxx

Describe your style in 5 adjectives.

Expressive, Colourful , Figurative, Joyful, Creative

What about your business are you most proud of?

The creative approach - making something unique and beautiful to add to the magic of an exciting day.

What is your No. 1 wedding planning tip for couples?

Try and get to a point with the planning that you’re happy with at least a week before the wedding so you can relax in the run up and do anything last minute that might come up without panicking! Also, delegate for the day - ask a bridesmaid, a groomsman or your mother-in-law to check little things on the morning of the wedding so you can relax and concentrate on getting ready!

What is your favourite personal touch you have seen at a wedding?

I may be biased, but a live painter of course! :-)

Describe your typical process with a couple.

The couple will initially get in touch and chat with my manager Angie, either via email or on the phone. She’ll answer any questions they may have and discuss what they would like in terms of a painting, date and location of their wedding and pricing. Once everything has been agreed, I will show up at your venue on the morning of the wedding, set up my easel and paints, and start painting the background of the scene. When the guests arrive I will continue to paint and may take somephotographs to help me create the painting. I will chat to guests while working and hopefully provide some fun entertainment for them as they watch the painting unfold.

What is your No. 1 top tip for keeping a crowd entertained?

To keep painting! I can try and crack some jokes but perhaps you would like a different entertainer for that :-)

Where is the most memorable place you have performed?

Definitely at North Lodge Park in Cromer, Norfolk; it’s my happy place as I used to go on holiday there as a child.

Have you had any interesting surprises at a wedding?

Once a mariachi band came up and serenaded me with a mariachi-style cover of Jesse J’s All 'About the Money'!

What is your party trick?

Making everyone look beautiful!
