Possibly Dorset's busiest ceilidh / Barn dance band. A 4 - piece outfit including a caller, we're headed up by Fiddle and Accordion and given a perfect tail end of rhythm on mandolin/ guitar and a hefty bass stomp. Strong, confident and lively.
We've been around for over 20 years now.
Our lovely accordion player who was with us best part of 15 years recently retired from full time gigging and we were delighted to replace him with a great musician Andrew, who like Richard, plays accordion and sings. Noeleen our caller, is also a fine vocalist and plays Irish whistles and the Bodhran, so we can entertain with a few traditional songs and tunes too. Gill is our fiddle player and Alex the man who holds it all together on guitar/ mandolin and Stomp and sorts the sound!
A ceilidh or barn dance is a perfect way to mix and mingle all your guests up, whatever their age or ability and is incredibly good fun ( as well as a good workout)
Noeleen is a great caller, with just the right amount of friendliness and encouragement to get people up and give clear instructions. We're perfect for beginners who've never been to ceilidh before and none of our dances are difficult by choice. If the level needs upping we can do this, but it has to be pitched right for everyone.
We do use 'deps' if we need to, if one of us unavailable, but will never send another band in our place using our name - if we can't do your date we'll recommend another band to you.
We also have a Trio version for just folky music and song, so if you're looking for just some 'trad' folk entertainment, that encompasses English, Irish, Scots tunes and songs. Alex and Noeleen teamed up with a fiddler/ vocalist Steve Faulkner for a St.Patrick's do in 2019 and kept going. We've played at all the main Dorset folk festivals - Wimborne, Purbeck Valley , Bridport, Swanage, Wessex. Last year we added New Forest Folk to that and this year we make our debut at Petherton Folk in Somerset. Jigs, reels, polkas even waltzes plus, ballads, rousing shanties and classic Irish 'pub' songs, are all in our armoury.
Happy to cover Dorset, parts of West Hampshire , New Forest and Salisbury area. We generally do two sets with a break, usually tied around any food you would be having or we can do one long set, if for example you are having a DJ afterwards.
If making an enquiry, please let us now whether you're looking for the Ceilidh version (4 piece) or the Trio.
Fun - Sociable - Lively - Engaging - Memorable
It's inclusiveness - a ceilidh / barn dance should get all people socialising..
A ceilidh - a perfect way of letting your hair down at the end of the evening.
Keeping it fun but relaxed, professional but part of the party too.
We play , you and your guests dance!
