What is your most memorable wedding?
Our most memorable wedding was our very first! The bride wasn't aware of the amount of time needed to order a wedding gown. She came to us with just 3 weeks until the big day! Needless to say we managed to find her the perfect dress and worked all hours to ensure everything was just perfect for her big day! Needless to say after a few stressful weeks and a few mini meltdowns from the bride (as is to be expected!) everything was perfect!
We have always wanted to make sure our brides ALWAYS left 100% happy, and we will go above and beyond to ensure that happens every time!
Describe your style in 5 adjectives.
Classic. Vintage. Stylish. Elegant. Chic.
What about your business are you most proud of?
I am most proud of our attention to detail. From the moment you step into the boutique you can see and feel this! (From the vintage suitcases to the attentive staff). We are perfectionists! We like to make sure everything is done perfectly and runs smoothly to make sure you have the most amazing experience picking your dress! I'm also incredibly proud of the relationships we make with our brides, as ordering your dress is an ongoing process you quite often have to pop into the boutique several times for a fitting or other bits and pieces! I love getting to know my brides and their stories and I'm proud to say I have formed lasting friendships with many of my brides!
What is your No. 1 wedding planning tip for couples?
Be wise, know your budget, and don't let everything get ahead of you. It's easy to get carried away in wedding land with all of the beautiful things. But it's also very easy to get confused, going over budget or ending up very overwhelmed. I always recommend my brides to stick to around 4 dress stores when looking for their ideal gown and always stay local! Going to the big stores in the cities might seem fun at first but if you don't live nearby the journeys for fitting might become a bit of a drag.
What is your favourite personal touch you have seen at a wedding?
The most personal touch I've seen at a wedding was a "wish tree" a beautiful tree lit up at the ceremony whereby friends and family could write a little note on a luggage tag of a memory or a wish for the bride and groom and tie it to the tree. It looked beautiful when it was full and made such a sweet personal gift to the happy couple!
Describe your typical process with a couple.
My typical process with a bride is a first initial appointment where they bring their bridal party along to a private fitting. We have a chat about what sort of style they like and what suits their body shape and go from there. The bride is free to pick as many dresses as she would like and staff are also on hand to make recommendations. Your appointments are never restricted, they are your time to get accustomed to the dresses and the process of trying them.
We would then invite the bride for a second fitting to make her final decision, she would then be measured up by a trained member of staff, a 50% deposit taken and the dress ordered. The dress can take 12-20 weeks to arrive, the bride is contacted as soon as the dress arrives in store and are invited for another fitting where their gown is tried on to ensure correct sizing, the final balance paid and the dress is taken away by the bride and bought back for alterations closer to the time of their wedding.
What do you love most about your job?
I love making people happy! Cliché I know, but the moment of pure joy when a bride finds her gown is like nothing else. It makes all the hard work worth it! Knowing you've helped someone find what could possibly be the most important item of clothing they will ever wear, and you've had an impact on their big day is so special and so satisfying. It truly makes me so incredibly happy and privilidged to be a part of something so special.
What is your favourite style of wedding dress?
My favourite style of wedding dress is a classic A line cut with a sweetheart neckline and delicate straps, and of course a feature back! With lace detail and a little bit of sparkle. It has everything you need all in one place, flatters every body type and will always look elegant even in 20 years time!
What is the best way to incorporate "Something Blue" into the wedding outfit?
I always recommend including something blue in accessories. Whether that be in a garter, or the flowers, or a little blue bow sewn into the dress, there are plenty of options!
What is your favourite wedding dress of all time?
Kate Middletons dress! It's a classic. A style that I imagine women will still be asking me for in years to come!
