Sanyukta was amazing. How many brides get to meet the designer of their wedding dress and have it bespokely made. Sanyukta listened too all my wants and found me something I loved. Just book a visit just to see for yourself, her eco friendly fabric and hand made dresses are everything.

When it came to buy the dress, I wanted to go somewhere where ethical sourcing was a priority which is how I found SANYUKTA SHRESTHA in Fulham. Her dresses are made from the most gorgeous silk and they had a lovely timeless feel to them. I didn’t want to get hung up on the dress too much, searching endlessly for the ‘one’ and the dress I chose made my mum cry so that was good enough for me. My dress search was so easy – I literally bought the first one I tried on!

My dress was unusual but I was definitely a bride – I didn’t want to be a typical bridal princess. I have never had dreams of my wedding day, of what I would wear – this was all new and confusing to me. I’ve never really liked being all tightly wrapped up. My character is pretty relaxed but with a strong personality and I guess this is also how I like to dress. This dress did me justice being both effortless and comfortable to move around in but also bold in its design.

I felt so very glamorous! It’s not a typical wedding dress; it doesn’t have lace, or petticoats, or a massive train, and this absence of clutter, to me, spoke so loudly. I loved the unique simplicity of the dress; it was unusual but elegant and timeless. In short, I felt like a queen!

I decided to take to Pinterest for my initial research and immediately lost hours and hours of my life scrolling through pages of wedding dress ideas. Luckily for me, one of the first dresses I happened upon was a stunning dress by Sanyukta Shrestha called the Evelyn. That was long before we had even looked at venues or set a date, I loved the dress so much, I took the risk and had it shipped over. I had the accessories handmade directly from Sanyukta Shrestha herself. The silk bolero is one of my favourite aspects of the dress, it adds a beautiful dimension of movement to the dress.
