Difficult question, there's been a few! I made a gown for a bride who got married in a woodland setting and wanted a one-shouldered, highly draped gown with embroidered colourful flowers appliqued all over it. It was a real artistic creation and we literally built the gown on her at fittings. She looked gorgeous, and it was memorable not only because of the design, but because of how supported she was by her friends throughout the process, and how 'her' the whole thing was.
modern, (a bit) kooky, fashionable, individual, precise
This is a difficult one to answer, I think I'm most proud of the variety of dresses I've designed and made. I always feel proud that someone has chosen me to make their wedding dress for them, no matter what the style of dress is. So I guess that means I'm proud of being flexible perhaps? I'm also proud of the fact that I enjoy it so much, it's a labour of love and I find it difficult to imagine doing anything else.
Controversial I know, but I would say it's about you two getting married. Be yourselves. Decide what you want and don't ask too many others for their opinion. Book well in advance and don't get side tracked by things you don't want or need.
That's more than one.
Anything that involves people being themselves
This is all variable, but usually there are about 2 appointments where we discuss the design and look at fabric, after which I provide a quote. Then I will take measurements, order the fabrics and then the fittings start: usually 4-6 fittings. At least the first 2 fittings are toiles (prototypes of the gown), after which the real dress is made with the remaining fittings to check the progress.
The fact that it's a creative process and I'm involved in every stage. I'm making something beautiful. And chatting to brides during fittings, and hearing about their wedding day afterwards.
On the one hand, something clean and modern looking and maybe A-line, quite sculptural. On the other, soft and flowing with beautiful textures.
Blue trims, blue beading, blue label, blue shoes, blue accessories or wear blue pants! Or you could commission a blue dress...?
