La Novia

I visited La Novia in October 2023 to pick out my wedding dress (which I totally fell in love with). At this time, I paid a 50% deposit on a dress and signed the terms of business. It was clearly stated on my order form the balance that I had to pay when the dress was ready. My first fitting was scheduled 4 weeks out from my wedding date and when I went to pay the balance, I was informed that they had to add 20% to the agreed cost to cover the VAT (because she had been doing her accounts incorrectly and apparently the VAT man had caught up with her). I explained that her accounting errors were not my fault and the balance that I should be paying was the one agreed when I placed the order and that by adding additional costs she was in breach of the contract. In an email response she explained that when I made the order the price was "all inclusive" but that had changed as she'd been told she had to pay VAT. She advised me that the other brides who she has increased their bill from the agreed price for hadn't complained and that "if I wanted to make this an issue" she would cancel my order (now less than 4 weeks out from my wedding). We just payed the 20% extra because I needed to have a wedding dress, but felt that we were emotionally manipulated/ blackmailed into this with the threat of cancelling the order in such short notice. I felt that she very much had me over a barrel at this point and my choice was either pay the extra or lose the dress. This is a clear breach of contract and is nothing short of extortion of customers who are in a stressful period of wedding planning. However, the seamstress who worked on my dress was lovely and I do not want my review of the Owner's appalling behaviour to negate from the talent of her team. The dress is beautiful, but my wedding dress experience has been severely tarnished through this interaction.

Liliana and her whole team were absolutely AMAZING!! I had an incredible experience at La Novia and I would highly recommend it to anyone looking for their perfect dress!! The whole team were very attentive, passionate and professional. They helped me to create the most beautiful dress for my wedding. THANK YOU!! I cannot recommend La Novia enough!!! (I also absolutely love their dog Oscar! Who is an amazing addition to the family at La Novia)
