Hello – I’m Erica from Erica Stacey Bridalwear in Manchester and I have been designing bespoke wedding dresses and special occasion wear for more than a decade. I absolutely love what I do and wouldn’t do anything else! I have a wonderful team who work with me in my Manchester studio and we thrive on creating any design in any size and any colour. We love getting to know our clients throughout the process and love making anything different . We love a technical challenge! Each client’s design starts from a set of sketches over an initial informal chat at the studio, fabrics samples are carefully selected to drape accordingly and trims are then chosen to bring the sketch to life! You will be measured from head-to-toe and a pattern is created especially for you so you never have to worry about having an off the peg dress altered. We can make interchangeable features, such as removable trains, overskirts and separates to keep your guests guessing throughout your big event. Between the team, there isn’t a style that we haven’t worked on! It is a lovely exciting process to go through to have exactly what you want and is never as expensive as you might think! What is your most memorable wedding?

In the summer of 2018 in the scorching heat we created the biggest dress we have ever made. I was heavily pregnant and we had to move the furniture to the side of the boutique for fittings as it was so voluminous! I was so proud to see the wedding photos once I had a baby in my arms and not an enormous bump!!! ;-D xxx

Describe your style in 5 adjectives.

As we can create absolutely any style, size or colour - our style is described in just one, which is ECLECTIC!

What about your business are you most proud of?

We have been creating bespoke dresses since 2010

What is your No.1 wedding planning tip for couples?

Remember the real reason that you are getting married - it doesn't matter that the colour of the roses don't match the invitations perfectly!

What is your favourite personal touch you have seen at a wedding?

Concealed blue pocket bags in my own wedding dress - useful to carry a handkerchief and it was my 'something blue!'

Describe your typical process with a couple.

I always listen to my clients carefully. I understand that no two people are the same. We can create any style or design for any personality

What do you love most about your job?

I love meeting new people and being able to create a beautiful bespoke garment especially for you. I love the technical challenge of manufacturing it and seeing the finished product in the wedding photos! I've made long lasting friendships in some of my brides and have been a big part of their day in such a special way!

What is your favourite style of wedding dress?

Anything with creative pattern cutting involved - I love sleeves, pleats and drapes and working with interesting fabrics!

What is the best way to incorporate "Something Blue" into the wedding outfit?

Pockets like my wedding gown, a blue lining or some blue embroidery!

What is your favourite wedding dress of all time?

I'm not sure if it was a wedding dress as such, but I've always loved Charles James' Clover Leaf Dress - it's just fabulous!
