What is an audio guestbook?
An audio guestbook lets your wedding guests leave you voice messages using a real retro telephone. They simply pick up the handset, listen to your greeting and leave their message after the tone. You get to keep the recordings after your wedding — from heartfelt messages to the increasingly entertaining ones left later in the evening!
How does the Dialtone audio guestbook work?
We send your chosen Dialtone telephone ready for your wedding. There’s no app, Wi-Fi or complicated setup required. Your guests pick up the handset, hear your personalised greeting and record their message. After the wedding, return the phone to us and we’ll prepare your recordings for you to listen back to.
How much does it cost to hire a Dialtone audio guestbook?
Our standard audio guestbook hire is £250 for three days, including free delivery and return. This gives you plenty of time to receive and set up your telephone without worrying about arranging delivery on the morning of your wedding.
Do you deliver across the UK?
Yes. Dialtone is based in North Yorkshire, but our audio guestbooks can be delivered for weddings across the UK. Delivery and return are included with our standard three-day hire.
Can I choose the colour of my telephone?
Absolutely. We have a growing collection of carefully restored retro telephones in different colours and styles, so you can choose one that complements your wedding rather than having something that looks like a piece of event equipment.
Do we need Wi-Fi or a power supply at our venue?
No. Our audio guestbooks are designed to be completely self-contained, so you don't need Wi-Fi or access to a plug socket. This also gives you much more freedom over where you place the phone at your venue.
Can we record our own greeting for guests?
Yes - and we recommend it! Your guests hear your greeting when they pick up the handset, so it's a lovely opportunity to welcome them and encourage them to leave a message, memory, story or piece of advice.
What happens to our recordings after the wedding?
Once your telephone has been returned, we'll carefully prepare your guests' recordings and make them available for you to listen back to. They're yours to keep, giving you the voices and laughter of the people who shared your wedding day with you.
Where should we put the audio guestbook at our wedding?
Somewhere visible but slightly away from loud speakers and the busiest parts of the dance floor usually works best. A small table, side room or quieter corner where guests naturally pass throughout the day gives people a chance to leave messages without competing with the music.
Why choose an audio guestbook instead of a traditional guestbook?
A written guestbook captures words; an audio guestbook captures the person saying them. You hear their voice, laughter, emotion and personality - including messages from people whose voices may become incredibly precious in years to come. And once the evening gets going, you'll probably receive a few messages you'd never find written in a traditional guestbook.
