What is your most memorable wedding?
Our most memorable has to be our first ever wedding, held at The Waterside, West Kilbride. As we approached the venue my stomach started to turn, I would be lying if I said I wasn't nervous, it was our first big event. This beautiful young woman was putting all her trust & faith in us to add some colour to her venue ready for her big day. I think my partner & myself were more nervous knowing the wedding party was just upstairs. My partner began fitting the chair covers as I went round behind him tying on our light blue organza bows, as neat & as tight as I could. My nerves began to subside as I looked around at my work but then a squeal. The bride had only come down for a sneak peak, in that moment I was hesitant to turn round, our bride ran forwards jumping with excited. Of course, I had nothing to worry about, the bride was over the moon, squealing with excitement & nerves herself as it was all becoming so real that the following day she would be a wife. Once finished & having looked around all my nerves had subsided & were replaced with a sense of pride, that was my work. It was by far the most memorable day & wedding for us as that was the very start of Bello Dayz.
Describe your style in 5 adjectives.
Clean, modern, stylish, sophisticated & dynamic
What about your business are you most proud of?
All of it! Looking at how far my small business has came in a short space of time makes me exceedingly proud. I am proud of all our hard work, our testimonials, our couples, just the business as a whole. We have grown so much having to expand our shop floor, we have been featured in several magazines, provided venue decor for fellow suppliers in the industry & made the top 10 of The Confetti wedding awards. We have managed to take on more staff too. The business as a whole has been an incredible achievement.
What is your No. 1 wedding planning tip for couples?
My number one tip for all my couples is to take their time & enjoy the experience. I recommend couples to attend wedding fairs, shop about, not only for potentially the best price but the supplier that is going to make their day one to remember & for all the right reasons. I encourage everyone to look at wedding insurance, do their research on suppliers & if they have a supplier in mind book with a booking fee & worry about the details later but absolutely never feel pressured into booking with someone, always make sure you are comfortable with your supplier, they are responsive & attentive from the get go, all the way through.
What is your favourite personal touch you have seen at a wedding?
Our favourite & most memorable of personal touches had to be those incorporated into a fellow suppliers big day. Ashleigh & Neil wed at the beautiful Waterside (we regularly dress this venue) & as a small business owner Ashleigh used her amazing talents of embroidery to incorporate lots of personal touches, from personalized tags for all the favours to embroidered ribbon for the cake. It was lovely to see these personal touches incorporated throughout the day.
Describe your typical process with a couple.
From point of contact Bello Dayz will talk through any ideas our couples have, checking our availability first. We offer free no obligation quotes & invite each couple to meet for a personal one to one consultation at my home of operation or at their venue. This allows our couples to see our work first hand, we order in any samples required & following delivery of samples we will send across any photographs or arrange another consultation. Where centrepieces are being hired we will mock the design for approval beforehand and will sit with each couple to make any tweaks. On inquiry, once our estimate has been accepted, we take a small booking fee to secure the date, we will also, always, send each couple a copy of our terms & condition for signing.
What is the best themed wedding you have worked at?
The best themed wedding we have worked at is another Waterside beauty. Regularly dressing this venue we often see a similar theme & colour carried through, however not with Nadia & Graeme. Their chosen theme also carried a beautiful background story. The beautiful Nadia had a lucky number (7) & on their 7th trip together Graeme took Nadia to her favourite city & proposed in the gardens of the Palace of Versailles. For the French theme we hand dyed table linen a soft silver/grey & hand cut black & white striped table runners. We helped source beautiful gold Cheltenham chairs apposed to traditional chair covers & sash, completing the table we provided teal linen napkins which complimented well the brides fresh flower arrangements in their gold terrarium centrepieces. The whole look came together beautiful & created such a romantic setting for the happy couple. It was an honour & delight to have been a part of their day.
What are the decorative trends with brides currently?
Rustic/Vintage. This style never goes out of fashion so to speak, we have created a package exclusively for this trend, including hessian sashes, log slice centrepieces, display ladders & much more. Its a reoccurring trend that we personally love working with.
What is your signature finishing touch?
Our signature finishing touch has to be our bows. Although bows are a standard venue dressing item we are often complimented on how neat & tidy our bows are. We always spend a good amount of time ensuring our bows are tight, sit neat & don't flop.
What decoration do you think every wedding needs?
No two weddings are the same there fore I wouldn't pin point one specific décor item that every wedding should have. What may be the taste & style of one couple may not necessarily be the style & taste of another. I do believe however every wedding should have décor but sometime understated elegance is the way to go, too busy and it can look messy.
