Baba Ganoush- Dining By Matthew Hyde

AVOID THIS COMPANY AT ALL COSTS! We booked Babaganoush Dining by Matthew Hyde in 2023 for our wedding day, evening food, then a BBQ the next day. They kept contacting us offering us discounts to pay more money in advance. I started to get concerned and had a look on companies house - they had just a couple of months before closed 'Babaganoush Catering' with debts of over £500,000! I voiced my concerns to Ashley Hyde (one of the directors), who explained to me that they had opened another company but they did not have cash flow issues - despite them constantly trying to get us to pay more money up front. We were no longer comfortable with Babaganoush providing all of the food for our wedding weekend. Ashley refused to give us our deposit back and I was too concerned to rely on them that they would not be in business on the day and I would be left without food for the entire weekend. I then changed catering company for our wedding on the Saturday and agreed that Babaganoush would go ahead with our BBQ on the Sunday so not to lose our deposit, which was a substantial amount of money. We ended up spending more money with them as we had extra guests attend, this came to nearly £4,000. A fee to hire the kitchen was applied at £800, even though the catering company the day before had already charged us for this. I asked Babaganoush if they could share the cost and they said it was not possible and a new kitchen would be coming. This seemed crazy to me, but believed I had no choice. I waited on Sunday for a new kitchen to arrive, which it never did! Babaganoush used the same kitchen and charged me £800! I was also shocked to discover that all they used was a warming oven to warm up the burgers and skewers - I expected the BBQ food to be freshly cooked on a BBQ - the food was bland and dry. I always say you get what you pay for, but I would expect a BBQ to be cooked fresh on a BBQ for this amount of money. When I raised these concerns to Babaganoush, they firstly ignored me and then after I followed up took another week to simply apologise and said the food was of a high standard. I must say I thank the lord we changed our catering company on Saturday to Home Grown Hospitality who were absolutely wonderful and the food was of a very high standard. If you have booked Babganoush I would genuinely consider cancelling as the way they do business is appalling, which is why they have already failed once. Their food is extremely poor and not what you would want on your wedding day. I am writing this review as I do not want anyone to find themselves in the same position that we unfortunately were in, so I want to warn people. If you are considering booking them - believe me DON'T.

My husband and I were married yesterday, and we hired Baba Ganoush to cater for our wedding. The food that they provided was delicious, we received compliments from many happy guests on the canapes and reception dinner! Our wedding was set in a medieval castle, and they worked with us to create the most grand medieval-style banquet in the castle's Great Hall. The entire experience of working with them was a joy, thanks to their professionalism, flexibility, and promptness with any communications - not to mention the lovely food tasting they offered me, my husband, and the Best Man! We absolutely loved our experience and would 100% recommend these caterers to any engaged couples planning a wedding! Love, Nina & Cameron

So glad we chose Baba Ganoush for our Wedding Breakfast food ! From all the planning , tasting and preparation they have been fantastic and I can’t fault them one bit. The food was amazing and all the guests complimented how great it tasted , we would definitely recommend them to anyone. The food was absolutely incredible, from the tasting through to the day of our wedding. We had quite a mixture of dietary requirements and picky eaters and the team dealt with them all without any issues. Everyone was raving about the food on the day and we lost track of how much positive feedback we got. The serving staff were excellent and the canapés, wedding breakfast and evening food made the day extra magical. I honestly cannot recommend them enough!!

Ashley, Bay and the whole Baba team were absolute gems for our Marquee wedding in early June. Baba were recommended to us by a friend, and we couldn't be more grateful for the recommendation. From the moment we first spoke to the team, we knew they'd be perfect for our Yorkshire wedding. They helped us to create the perfect summer-countryside menu, with a sharing roast dinner as the centrepiece..

Thank you to Ashlea & everyone at Baba for cooking up a storm for our wedding! The whole process was so fun, from the canape showcase to our tasting meal, we thoroughly enjoyed it all. Throughout the lead up to the wedding Ashlea was always on hand to answer any queries & random information I had to tell her. On our wedding day Ashlea was on hand with our bridal board of canapes, making sure we tasted them all (they were delicious) & the rest of our food was exceptional. Would 100% recommend

Baba Ganoush provided the catering for our wedding and we couldn't have wished for better food. Everything was cooked to perfection and we had great feedback from all of our guests - there were definitely no leftovers, despite the generous portions! Thank you :)

Baba Ganoush recently catered our wedding, we opted for the afternoon tea and Mac & cheese in the evening and the food is absolutely delicious but the service really adds to the overall experience. We spoke to a few people but our coordinator Rebecca was an absolute angel. During our food tasting we asked for a few minor adjustments and all were implemented and the day went absolutely perfect with all the guests complimenting the food (who knew a humble sandwich could be so delicious?

There is so much that can be said for this team, the patience, the passion and the overall finesse that they showed throughout the whole planning process and our big day was mindblowing. On the day the staff were polite and smiley and they put our minds at ease for the rest of the day. The canapes were delicious and they even made sure we had some at the table to share in case we didn't get chance, the food was served promptly and was absolutely delicious .

Baba Ganoush created the perfect menu for our wedding day! Fantastic communication from start to finish and honestly the most delicious food! We still get comments from our guests how good the food was, and we are yet to find a Pie better than the one from Baba Ganoush. 100% recommend.
