What is your most memorable wedding?
Turning up at a beautiful venue that reminded me of Hogwarts and then having to drive the car up a nearly vertical hill with a three tier stacked cake on the back!
Describe your style in 5 adjectives.
Quirky Adventurous Innovative Fresh Stunning Wow-factor (cheated by using a double barrel!)
What about your business are you most proud of?
My designs stand out within my industry
What is your No. 1 wedding planning tip for couples?
Book the small people first! People like myself, who work alone, and for themselves get booked up really quickly, so you need to pin them down as soon as you decide they are who you want to work with !
What is your favourite personal touch you have seen at a wedding?
Individual laser cut wooden names for every single guest
Describe your typical process with a couple.
You come to my home for a consultation that usually lasts an hour. We discuss all aspects of your wedding, themes, colours, ideas, flavours etc. Then I sketch out a design for you while you get to eat some cake. I love the personal experience of chatting over a hot drink and eating cake, and sometimes I can pull ideas out of your head that you hadn't realised were possible in a cake! Once you've agreed the design and decided you would like me to make your cake I take you through the booking process.
What is your signature cake?
Probably my wooden effect cakes, which are very popular because I live in such a rural area, and because, to be quite frank, they're bloody good!
What is the most original creation you have baked for a wedding?
I once made superman and Darth Vader having a fight all the way up the back of a three tier wedding cake!
Describe how you got into making wedding cakes.
I always made cakes around my "job" in retail management, and when I was made redundant I decided to set up my own business, and I haven't looked back
What would be your show stopper in the Great British Bake Off?
To be honest I wouldn't enter, and I have never watched a single episode. I believe that opinion is personal, and what one person loves might not be the same for someone else. So I don't hold with the ethos that two people can decide if your work is worthy just from their own, possibly biased opinions
