My name is Trudy, wife, mother and very proud nanna. My first baking business was established in 2011. Having left my office job in September 2021 (I should have taken the plunge years ago!) it was then that "The Moist Bakery" was born! Yes its a name that's a bit like marmite, you love it or hate it, but the fact remained that the description of my bakes always contained the word "moist" from reviews and feedback from my customers. In the baking world this is one of the biggest compliments I could receive.....no one likes dry cake......do they?? While my main goal has always been to create tasty cakes that everyone will love, I'm also incredibly passionate about the artistry of cake designing. Being able to create a cake that will put a smile on someone’s face has always been my greatest joy. I'm always excited to work with my customers to create delicious pieces of art. I work at the highest standards for everyone no matter how big or small your order is. Yes, many MANY hours can go into making a bespoke cake. I'd love to change my pricing to a "day rate" hahah, I might recoup some of the unpaid hours I always seem to put in, but for once in my life I can honestly say I LOVE MY JOB! even if being in this industry does not make me rich, it helps to pay the bills. Time off and trips away?? well, that's what husbands are for..... Thanks always to my love, my rock, my supportive man, Darren. I thank you for having a browse through my website, I hope you like it and I would love to hear from you if you would like to order a very special cake. Trudy x
My first wedding! This was back in the day when cupcakes were very on trend. My couple where getting married many miles away so they collected their boxed up cakes from me en route. I opened the box to show them the cupcakes and they both looked inside. The groom said "oh yeah they are nice!" then I looked at the bride to be and there were tears streaming down her cheeks. Obviously she overwhelmed with the stress of getting married but also thrilled with her intricately designed mini cakes for her big day. She was so grateful and excited and this memory will never leave me.
Contemporary, delicious, moist, trending, showstopper
Offering a personal, stress free and friendly service to put my couples minds at rest. I'm very easy to contact and I'm quick to respond to enquiries. From my own experience I am NOT A FAN of waiting for a response. I treat others how I would like to be treated and getting married is a stressful time! I make my part of your big day a breeze and offer useful advice from my many years experience. Yes, that is what I am most proud of....I am just a friendly lady who cares, and thrives offering a bespoke and high standard of service.
Never cater for all of your wedding guests as not everyone will eat a slice of cake.....unless of course you would like leftovers to take home.
Chat chat chat via email. Price the cake, delivery and set up and supply full quotation. Receive deposit from couple and secure booking. Offer digital sketching to the couple with 3 different designs relating to their ideas/colour scheme/likes and vision within their price range. Edit any changes and tweaks until the couple are happy with the overall look of the cake. Offer Taster Box to decide on flavours.
I am an all rounder when it comes to designs. I think I would get bored making the same designs over and over. I'm happy to make anything from semi-naked to sugar iced tiered cakes with delicate sugar flowers.
A beach design with toppers of the couple sitting on top. I have also made a halloween style wedding cake in black with red blood skulls and cobwebs.
Baking for my daughters 21st birthday. Then baking samples and taking them into work for my colleagues to try....this then expanded into taking orders from those work colleagues and one recommending me to their friend who was getting married. My first wedding cake was made in 2012.
I love to make sculpted cakes in quieter months. I think it would have to be an animal of some kind. Check out my website for cakes I have made previously. I loved making a realistic garden snail as part of the Cake International competition back in 2018 and received a Silver Award.
