From our little shop in the centre of Eastbourne, we make wedding cakes of all descriptions that will impress and delight your guests. We excel at novelty and themed cakes, sugar flowers to match your bouquet, beautiful cupcake towers and generally making you wedding cake dreams come true. We have been designing, making and creating wedding, and other celebration cakes, for over 17 years, so you can rest assured that you are in safe hands (which is exactly what you need when you have to carry wedding cakes around!) We love creating new and exciting designs and working together with couples to create a cake that exceeds all expectations is exactly what we are here to do!
Through our initial discussions we will get a good idea of the style of cake that you are looking for, help you decide on the size of cake that will be suitable for your day and give you an idea of the kinds of costs involved. From there, we will invite you in for a consultation where you will get to try samples of our cakes and we can talk through all the details of your cake. We will give you a quote that is fixed by a 25% deposit and then we will get started on drawing out your designs. The design can be changed as many times as necessary to get to your perfect cake. When we deliver the cake we will set it up along with any extras that we have discussed, so there is nothing you need to do but enjoy your cake on the day!
We offer 15 different cake flavours (all vegetarian) and we can cater for dairy free, Vegan, gluten free, nut free and most other allergies that you or your guests may have. We deliver all our wedding cakes, to make sure that they arrive at their destination in perfect condition. Delivery in Eastbourne is free but we do charge for further afield. Our gorgeous iced biscuits make for beautiful favours and can also double up as place names. We can make extra cakes for cutting, grooms' cakes, anniversary, birthday, baby shower and Christening/Baptism cakes as well, just to name a few examples.
We look forward to working with you and creating something truly special, to suit your unique style.
Helen & Oliver.
There have been so many, but most recently it has to be a 5 tiered cake decorated in sunset colours, covered in flamingos, peonies, pocket watches and tea cups from in Alice in Wonderland, art equipment, snooker items, Queens Park Rangers logos and all sorts of other thing that were important to the couple. It took Oliver and I a whole week to create and about 4 hours to put together on the day! It was a symphony of colour and personality and simply oozed joy!
Eclectic, perfection, stylish, joyous, stunning.
The feedback from our customers has been so wonderful over the years, it's always a joy to hear how much they enjoyed their cakes. So, I'm most proud of our reputation, I guess!
Try not to obsess over the details- leave that for your suppliers to do for you! It will all come together in the end and no-one will notice if the chair sashes are a slightly different shade from the bridesmaids dresses. You will have a brilliant day, so just try to relax and enjoy it!
Obviously, the best personal touch is an incredible cake made to showcase the couples' personalities, hobbies and passions!
We exchange a few emails initially, where I ask couples to send a few examples to show the style of cakes they like. I will give them an initial idea of the kinds of costs they are looking at. Then, if they are happy with those, we will book them in for a consultation session where they will try a number of samples of cakes and we discuss all the details of the cake, ingredients, design, set up and delivery. At this point we would ash for a 25% deposit form the couple and then the quotes are fixed and their date is secure.
We then follow up the consultation with an email confirming all the details we talked about and their payment schedule. We will then get on with their designs and email them over when complete. The couple are then encouraged to make any changes they like to perfect the design.
The week before the wedding we send an email to reassure the couple that we are ready to make their cake and all is going well. Then, on the day, we will deliver and set up the cake at a time specified by the couple and/ the venue. We are happy to supply copies of our Public Liability Insurance and allergen information to venues that require them.
After the wedding we will contact the couple to make sure they were happy with the cake, although, it more often happens that the couple contact us first, as I don't like to do it too soon. We like to give them time to enjoy their honeymoon first! And we love to see photos of the couple with their cake- it makes it all worth while!
We don't really have a signature cake. We make all kinds of styles with all kinds of finishes; that's what keeps it fun for us! And as fashions come and go we find ourselves learning many new techniques. We are especially good at novelty cakes and making figures and models, so we love a cake with theme. We have done quite a few Harry Potter and Lord of The Rings themes, along with Lego and Beauty and The Beast.
We have done so many highly specialised cakes, there is no one the is most original. We have made quite a few double sided cakes, where the front is a beautiful, traditional cake and when you go round the back, the icing is "drawn back" to reveal, themes such as Superheros, Football Clubs, Harry Potter, Lord of The Rings, Breweries, favourite pubs, hobbies, golf, wild swimming, Pokemon, computer games, to name but a few!
My husband Oliver and I met at university, where he studied animation (which involved a lot of model making) and I studied Fine Art. After leaving college we both played with the idea of becoming artists, but found a more reliable income by making cakes. I made a Christening cake for a friend, back in 2008 and no-one could believe that I didn't do it professionally, so I decided to give it a go. A few years down the line and I was so busy that Oliver decided to become part of the business as well. Since then we have opened a shop in Eastbourne town centre and we haven't looked back! I'd say, we've made over 400 wedding cakes and over 1000 celebration cakes so far.
I must admit that we don't watch the Great British Bake Off! Every waking moment of my life is spent making, icing, designing, talking about, thinking about cakes, so when I sit down in the evening, the last thing I want to watch is someone else baking!
