Delivering a 5 tier buttercream wedding cake during our 40 degree heatwave to a non-airconditioned venue! Fortunately I always work closely with the venue team and other suppliers to make sure all is planned out and cared for, and my couple were kept informed of any changes we had to make to accomodate for the heat. I'm proud to say the cake still stood perfectly for the couple's cake cutting and serving for their guests.
Elegant with personality
That I work with each couple individually to get to know them and their own style and dreams for their wedding. Their cake is then designed around this to ensure a truly unique and personal experience.
Be you. Never be frightened or embarrassed to ask for something that you want for your day. If you want to include your pet, a hobby or anything else into your cake design then do it. Remember, your wedding is a celebration of your love and who you are together.
One you have booked your date and venue we will be able to confirm availability for your cake. Before booking we can chat about what you think you might like for your cake and I can advise on size and prices based on this. You can even order a taster box before booking if you wish. You will generally need to book and secure your date around 18 months before your wedding.
Once you are happy and have secured your date, the next step happens around 6-9 months from your date when we meet for your cake design consultation. We talk about all of your wedding planning, styling and how you want your day to feel, looking at your stationery, flowers and any other decor and I design your cake to compliment all of this. This meeting also includes a complimentary taster box when you book a cake of 3 tiers or more.
In the time leading up to your wedding day, I liaise with your venue team and any other suppliers such as your florist, to confirm timings and any other logistics so you don't need to worry about a single thing and can enjoy this special time.
As each cake is designed specifically for each individual couple my cakes can look quite different, but my signature style generally includes a sugarpaste finish with personalised elements without being novelty.
Certainly the most personalised cake I have made included many different personalised elements including bespoke book spines and favourite steam train in a reveal-back design, phrases from their favourite novels in love hearts on the front, balanced beautifully with sugar flowers to ensure their cake still looked classic and elegant, rather than novelty.
Flavour-wise I have created new or adapted my recipes to make cakes even more special for my couples, for example I created a banana bread inspired flavour at a couples request after the pandemic due to their love for it.
I first started making cakes simply to make my daughters' birthday cakes, but as my skills and business grew as did my love for weddings, so it was a natural progression for me.
I love everything about weddings, always have done since the age of 5 when the church bells would ring at the church opposite my grandparents house. The pride and happiness being part of someone's special day is magical.
