Southwell Cakery are award winning wedding cake makers based in Nottinghamshire. Supplying beautiful cakes, cookies, macarons, cupcakes, and brownies across the East Midlands and beyond. Managed by Ruth Harmer, Southwell Cakery are a preferred supplier to a number of wedding venues, and are recognised consistantly year after year with many industy awards. Products offered They are delighted to welcome you by appointment to their Southwell studio where you can sample what they have to offer. Consultations are held either in person, (Outside wedding season) or via a Zoom call. Cake sample boxes are available to collect or can be shipped to UK adresses. What is your most memorable wedding?

Can I say my own? It was the first cake I was involved with, I helped design it and looking back, this is where it all started for me.

Describe your style in 5 adjectives.

Our style could be described as timeless, elegant and sophisticated, with a contemporary edge and a touch of whimsy, but we are lead by our clients ideas.

What about your business are you most proud of?

I started Southwell Cakery from scratch after being made redundant. I have worked hard, and my business has grown, and it has become my fourth 'baby'.

What is your No. 1 wedding planning tip for couples?

As soon as you decide you want to use a supplier, book them.

What is your favourite personal touch you have seen at a wedding?

I love typography on wedding cakes. Including your initials, or a special message is a lovely, subtle personal touch.

Describe your typical process with a couple.

We invite all couples to a free, no obligation consultation at our studio in Southwell. Here there is the opportunity to view our range of show cakes, try samples and discuss in detail the couples wedding cake ideas. From there, we raise a quotation(s) and forward to the client. It maybe that there are further discussion, and alterations made to the design. We keep couples dates penciled in our diary for 14 days after a quotation is given. A £100 non refundable/non transferable deposit secures a wedding booking, designs are finalised 6-8 weeks before the event with balance payments due one month prior to the wedding. Sugar flowers are made a few weeks before the wedding, with the cake being started four days before. We liaise with the venue and any other suppliers involved with the cake to confirm arrangements. One the day, we personally deliver and set up the wedding cake so it is ready before any guest arrive.
