A vintage art deco cake created for a couple who left the final design up to me and didn't know what their cake would look like until they saw it on the day! Fabulous!
A lovely couple who were married in St Stephen's church in Hampstead Heath in London. They came to visit on the day England were playing in the World Cup so we started off in the local pub watching the game! We then discussed their ideas which included dusky pink, metallics, art deco and vintage including a family heirloom to be used as a cake topper. In the end they left the design up to me so it was a surprise on the day. The couple, the venue, the cake and the experience of working with them was all a wonderful time and one to treasure.

go with what your gut tells you when you can't decide! Not what is in trend.
Don't be driven entirely by what is on trend. Go with your gut feeling and do what is important to you and not everyone else because its your special day.

Having personalised tables to do with the couples life together
Meeting up in person to talk through designs whilst tasting lots of cake!
Having a chat to see what they want from their wedding day. Then to see what place the cake has in all this so I can create a cake that fits in not only with their style but also their personality.
Oh this is a really hard one now as so many come to mind! it probably though still goes back to my Hummingbird Cake which was created for a cake competition and I won a gold award for it. it encompasses everything that I excel in with cake design from painting, delicate piped work and intricate sugar flowers. The cake itself is tropical and colourful and the colours were mostly greens and blues with a touch of fuchsia pink.
probably my Hummingbird cake which I designed for Cake International, it won gold in the wedding cakes category and was shared by so many on the internet.
Has to be the one I mentioned as my most memorable. The cake had art deco elements, a piped map of the world showing the couples favourite places, a hexagonal base and a fabulous antique cake topper from the grandmother. It was unlike anything else I have ever seen or created and so beautiful.
I think the tropical trio of cakes based on Mauritius with painted birds and tropical flowers
I have an older sister who always made my birthday cakes for me. When she turned 16 I wanted to make her cake so I went to a book store, picked up a book on cake decorating and worked on a design. That was it, I was hooked! From then on I spent most of my spare time baking and decorating and when I was 16yrs old I sold my first two cakes during Christmas. After that I kept it up and made cakes for family and friends turning it into a business once I had settled down with my family.
From an early age I started cake decorating and made my first wedding cake for a friend aged 20 and carried on as a hobby for years before turning it into a business.
A secret garden, I just love flowers and I love wild flower gardens and cottage styles. Something where there are hidden elements and little pieces of detail.
Something tropical with bright colours and a toucan!
