To be honest, I remember every single wedding that I have catered for, but I have to say the most memorable wedding cake Ive made was probably for the Lord of the Rings enthusiasts. I had to make the rings to sit on top and engrave them in Elvish.
Quirky. Colourful. Fun. Stylish. Detailed.
The fact that I have run it successfully for eight years single handedly.
Try not to get too stressed, and take time to enjoy it.
Initial discussions are usually via email, then the couple will come for a consultation and tasting, where I will design their cake for them, and they will fall in love with it. Once a couple has decided to use me to make their cake, I will ask for a deposit to seal the date for them and they will receive a confirmation letter with all the details of their cake. I personally deliver and set up their cake on the big day at a pre-arranged time.
I don't have a signature cake as they are all completely bespoke. As far as flavours go, my most popular is probably lemon, which is delicious.
Ive made a few gothic wedding cakes over the years, which are always eye catching when they are covered in black icing. One actually featured a gargoyle!
For years I worked in an office environment. One day I just decided I had had enough, so I retrained after seeing a course advertised at my local collage. It turns out I had a knack for it.
I can't give all my secrets away, but hopefully one day you'll get to see it!
