I delivered a Star Wars themed wedding cake recently and seeing both the bride and groom cry when I took it out of the box absolutely made my day!
All weddings are memorable for their own reasons. For me, getting to do a cake reveal with a couple and seeing their reaction makes my heart smile
Tasty, fun, stylish, unique, colourful
Elegant, quirky, colourful, modern, beautiful
I am so proud that my business was born from a love of baking for my husband who has an extremely sweet tooth. I baked so much he ended up bringing cakes to work everyday! One day, I received a telephone call from his boss asking me to make his daughter's birthday cake and the rest as they say, is history .......
How much we have grown, especially during lockdown. Moving into purpose built premises in 2022 was a huge step for us, but this allows us to have my creative space, room for teaching and somewhere fabulous for couples for come along and meet with us for consultations
Have the wedding cake you want, not the cake you think you should have! Your wedding cake maker is here to make the whole process easier so ask lots of questions
Wedding cakes cost more than you think so try and set yourself a realistic budget. Don't choose someone because they are the cheapest. Choose the person you are most comfortable with. Your wedding cake will probably be the most expensive cake you'll ever buy!
I recently made a cake for a bride who has lost both her mum and her grandma in the run up to her wedding. We included embellishments from both their cakes on her own cake, even though it didn't work with her chosen style, but the significance behind the items meant so much more than the cake itself.
I have seen so many but little things like water bowls for dogs at a teepee wedding, storm trooper table decorations, hand made Marvel comic table flowers .... I could be here for hours!
I love cake consultations with couples. It's a great opportunity for me to get to know the couple and for them to get to know me. These consultations are a great way of pulling lots of ideas together, making each cake personal and making sure it's all in the detail. It also means cake tasting!
Whether we chat on the phone or via email initially, I will always arrange a face to face with couples. We can do this in person at our studio in Melbourne or online via Zoom. These chats are a great way of getting to know each other and for me to find out more about what kind of cake is required. It also helps me to find out that must haves and the don't wants, along with helping a couple to start the design process of their cake.
We also offer sample boxes which all couples receive as part of the process (the best bit!!).
Once a quote has been accepted and deposits paid, I will keep in touch with a couple in the run up to the wedding to ensure that everything is still how it should be and ensure that any last minute requests are accommodated.
Red Velvet has always been my favourite and signature bake but it's quickly becoming cherry bakewell and rum and ginger!
My most popular flavours are chocolate fudge, lemon + raspberry, salted caramel, red velvet and sticky toffee
A star wars themed wedding cake with one tier stencilled to look like the death star!
My business was born from a love of baking and the need to satisfy my husband’s very sweet tooth! I was made redundant just after getting married and had absolutely no idea what I wanted to do next. I was bored at home and still in that fabulous newly wed stage so thought I'd bake my new husband a cake. Once I started that was me, I'd got the baking bug! I couldn't wait to try different flavours, go on cake decorating classes to pick up hints and tips. And that feeling hasn't changed. Initially I took it slowly, it was just cupcakes I offered. Then came birthday cakes and then wedding cakes. I didn't want to jump head first and get it wrong so I took my time, built my business up slowly and learnt some valuable tips along the way. Wedding cakes are now my favourite to make because of the thought process, the love, the meaning that goes into each and every one.
Chocolate fudge cake with lotus biscoff buttercream - my absolute favourite!
