What is your most memorable wedding?
My most memorable wedding cake moment was when we were asked to make a really large cake for the first time. It was 6ft tall and to date still the tallest cake we have made. It was covered in over 3000 sugar flowers and it was a very exciting project. We have made quite a few tall cakes since, some with more sugar flowers, but that first one will always have a special place in our hearts.
Describe your style in 5 adjectives.
Graphic, minimal, symmetrical with sugar flowers to add romance. But we are not making our wedding cake, we are making yours and we believe in collaboration with our couples. We want to make a cake that wows you and anyway, we're easily bored and love to explore new styles, so let's see what we can come up with together.
What about your business are you most proud of?
That we managed to win some Great Taste Awards in the past.
What is your No.1 wedding planning tip for couples?
Start planning early and enjoy the journey. Also, if you trust your supplier, listen to their advice as they will have lots of experience and know what works out best.
Describe your typical process with a couple.
We start by meeting up for a tasting or having a chat on the phone followed by sending a sample box. We will discuss your day and the other elements you are incorporating and explore how to design a cake so it complements the decor on the day. When you have confirmed your booking with a deposit, we will start sketching and keep going until we have your perfect cake. All that's left then is to double check you're still 100% happy 2 months before the date and then it's all up to us. We usually liaise directly with the venue regarding delivery, so that's one less thing for you to worry about. All that's left to do is for you to enjoy your cake on the day!
What is your signature cake?
Sugar paste cakes with a bold flower cascade will always be close to our hearts, but we love to explore different styles. At the moment, we have just added Lambeth style cakes to our range - they are the ones with lots of intricate piped detailing and they are a real challenge to pull off. The kind of challenge we love.
What is the most original creation you have baked for a wedding?
Early on, we were asked to make a Companion Cube wedding cake for a gaming obsessed couple. It wasn't the only off the wall request we have had, but it probably was as different as any of them.
