Mrs B’s Buns Full Description
I started up my business officially 4 years ago. I had preciously been making my kids cakes for 15 years, I’m self taught and perfected my recipe over the years until it was second to none then I worked on the designs. Sugar flowers are my absolute favourite to do, along with a nice marble and a flawless finish. I will take on almost any commissions especially those with a burst of colour!!!

FAQs
Find out a bit more from our FAQs

What is your most memorable wedding?

Last year at Norton House Hotel, I just loved the couples cake design

Describe your style in 5 adjectives.

Original, out there, colourful, striking, eye catching

What about your business are you most proud of?

I’ve built it myself and learned so much in the last year. I’ve learnt sugar flowers and so many new techniques.

What is your No.1 wedding planning tip for couples?

When picking your cake maker, make sure they have all the relevant paper work in place- registered with local council, public liability etc. It’s your special day!!

What is your favourite personal touch you have seen at a wedding?

Personalised sugar cookies for every guest. These make incredible favours! They just add to the intimacy of a wedding.

Describe your typical process with a couple.

First of all I usually have interaction via email, phone call or social media. The couple let’s me know their date l and I let them know if it’s available. Then typically the couple will be the booking fee to secure their date. I then like to schedule face to face consultation, I like to get to know my couples on a personal level and strike up a rapport with them. This is key to couples trusting in me to design their dream wedding cake! Once we’ve talked about ideas/themes/styles/ colours and agreed on a design then the couple leave with a beautifully presented sample box. In the time they’re enjoying the sample box in the comfort of their own home, I will make a start on sketching up their cake. Once all the finer details are added I’ll do a written quotation. This is then sent over to the couple with terms and conditions of booking. If this is then agreed, I ask them to confirm flavours. Then 1/2 the cake payment is usually made. I will then correspond frequently with all couples until their date. Final payment is due 4 weeks before date of the big day!

What is your signature cake?

Signature flavour of last season was definitely sticky toffee or pink velvet for those of you who like to change things up and live life on the wild side!

My signature design is definitely marbling and texture!!

What is the most original creation you have baked for a wedding?

My ivory and champagne cake with gold flakes and dried flower show stopping display!

Describe how you got into making wedding cakes.

I’ve always made celebration cakes and it’s always been my passion. I felt slightly intimidated by bigger cakes and the thought of wedding cakes. But during the lockdown I joined and online business course for cake makers and my passion free and grew. Once I’d done one wedding I got the bug! I absolutely love to see the happy couples finished design.

What would be your show stopper in the Great British Bake Off?

A wedding cake made solely of brownies! Delicious!
