Each wedding is very unique and we treat every cake with the same care. One that stood out most (mostly because of the challenge) was an elaborate hand painted cake we delivered from Milton Keynes to Durham. It was also decorated with delicate royal icing structures and dozens of sugar flowers, which made it quite sensitive in transport.
Bespoke, elegant, unique, show stopping, delicious.
I am proud of the care and passion I put into each cake. They are all very important as the cake plays one of the central roles in a wedding. The cutting is traditionally the first thing the couple will do together. It will be photographed and witnessed by the guests. I love being a part of this beautiful tradition, creating fabulous designs our couples will remember for the best of reasons.
It is never too early to book your suppliers. When the dates are gone, they are gone.
I love when couples include their pets in their day, and sometimes even on their cake. So very personal and touching.
The couple usually gets in touch or we meet at a wedding fair. They visit for a tasting, and to discuss their cake design. To go ahead, 50% deposit is paid and secures their date. The remaining amount is due 2 months before their day. 1 month before the date we get in touch to make sure that all is well, and if any changes need to be made. On the day we deliver and set up the cake for the couple to love and enjoy.
I am really good at hand painting and realistic sugar flowers. I also love to work with royal icing, which is a dying form of art, creating beautiful piped lace and delicate structures that really wow everyone.
One of the brides had the portrait of her horse painted on her cake.
My mum had a small business creating cakes and bakes when I was younger. This left me with a love for the craft from an early age. The thought of making cakes that will be the source of lovely memories and happiness for my couples made me start out on my own.
