My name is Isobel, I'm a freelance East London-based baker and cook, specialising in wedding and celebration cakes and styling.
A passion for food, interiors and design influences my life and creating a showstopping cake is the perfect combination of all of my favourite things.
When it comes to weddings, I like to work closely with a couple from the outset, drawing on the design, colour and feel of the wedding to create a totally bespoke wedding cake.
No detail is overlooked, from the initial sketches and tastings to adding the final touches on the big day. My trademark style features a dramatic display of seasonal blooms. The best part of my job is the grand reveal on the big day. To provide a beautiful centrepiece for someone's happy occasion is the icing on the cake.
For me the flavour is as important as the style and it's essential my cakes taste as good as they look. I'll adapt the flavour to suit each occasion, with different levels in complexity, from layers of rich butter cream marbled with fruit curds to spiced sponges, to rich chocolate cake. The flavour combinations are endless.
My cake designs have been featured in Vogue, Sunday Times magazine, Homes and Garden and The Wedding Edition. Also featured on Ed Gamble and James Acaster’s Just Puddings Wedding Edition on You Tube.
Cooking and Styling
I’ve worked with The Guardian Saturday Magazine with Yotam Ottolenghi on the cover image, and Made.com on their birthday campaign. I’ve worked on campaign shoots with Most Curious Wedding Fair, styling and prop sourcing as well as collaborating with Quinn Says Store.
My career started in cookery, and events, catering for The Design museum and for private clients. I love to cook and style seasonal food, with an attention to detail. I’m passionate about writing and testing recipes as well as creating beautiful images of food.
