My most memorable wedding was last November, I created a 4 tier semi naked cakes adorned with over a hindred sugar paste sweet peas, the couples said it was a real showstopper and as a result of this cake I became a preferred supplier at the fabulous local hotel.
Creative, exciting, detailed, luxury, intricate
I'm most proud of me, after baking for years I founded this business from the sheer love of creating jpy through cake, I love meeting couples and get excited planning wedding cakes and I have learnt that by sheer determination and practice anyone can be amazing and every couple deserves an amazing wedding cake.
Find the suppliers you love and reserve them, go with the suppliers that care and will reflect what you are looking for in your special day. It should never just be a booking, your wedding day is the most special day of your life so chose the people who you know will create exactly what you want.
For me it was after the wedding, the couple I created the sweet peas for had their flowers split and framed so they could send them to their family after their wedding day so they all had a momentum of their special day.
A couple would get in touch to check availability and price. I would offer to call them to discuss their plans and to find out more about their special day or some prefer to start with an email.
I send all of the relevant information and options for them to consider. A deposit would secure their wedding day and for 2021 this is especially important. I would then arrange to send out a wedding cake taster box in the coing months and we would agree a date for their wedding cake tasting and design meeting. A lot at present depends on covid with the physical meetings but hopefully these will be up and running again soon.
If a couple wanted to try the cake before they paid a deposit then this can be arranged for £30 and should the couple go onto book this amount gets taken off their final balance.
Cascading Rose petals. These have proved to be a much loved choice by so many of my couples and they can have as little or as many as they want.
Battenburg has been my most original cake and its definitely one of my all time favourite cakes.
Like many people my age I started baking with my Mum and my Nan. My Mum used to be a wedding caterer so is a wonderful source of business information. I loved baking and when my husband bought me a kitcheaid years ago i started baking every day. I have won local baking awards and got as far as the final round of interviews for the great british bake off a few years ago, sadly I didn't get through to the live show but it gave me the confidence to pursue a change of career, so for me it was goodbye to a high level HR role to being my own boss and I absolutely love it!
It would have to include my new found love of macarons! It would be 3 tiers and covered in all different flavoured and coloured macarons.
