The first wedding that I did a cake for at The Ashes Barns as it introduced the venue to me which led to me booking it for my own wedding.

Don't overthink it, and think about what your want and not want you think others will want.
The different ways in which people honour friends and family who are no longer with them.
From the initial contact with the client I ask about their tastes, their inspirations and any ideas that they have so far. I discuss their budget in the early stages so that I can manage their expectations against what is in their budget. Once the couple have decided to book with me I take the £100 non-refundable deposit and email them a contract to be signed. I am then available for contact with the couple to discuss their cake and what they would like. Changes can be made up to 4 weeks before the wedding. I send tasters out via courier or they can be collected from me around 12 weeks before the wedding. I speak to the couple in the days leading up to the wedding to confirm all final arrangements to ensure that I have done everything that they need from me.

I have baked from a young age as a way to help my mental health. During lockdown I baked a lot and opened up my home bakery with people collecting from my doorstep. It has grown significantly over the last few years and when I was asked if I would do a wedding cake I jumped at the chance. Since them, wedding cakes have started to take over the majority of the work that I do. I love the process of planning a cake and seeing it through to the set up.
It probably wouldn’t be a wedding cake, it would be what I’m planning for my sons 3rd birthday coming up… watch this space
