Amanda Heaviside is the owner and designer of Fairy Hill Cakes. She puts her heart and sole into every single creation and it shows on the final execution of each design. She has just been honoured with receiving a Bronze award in the Wedding Cake category at the most prestigious cake competition in the UK; Cake International, and was just awarded Wedding Caker Maker of the Year 2019 here at Bridebook!
She also recently gained a new celebrity customer Miss Scarlett Moffatt who loved her unicorn birthday cake!
Fairy Hill Cakes certainly ooze quality using free range eggs, real flavours rather than synthetic additives and locally sourced produce when ever possible.
Fairy Hill Cakes provides a bespoke service for the bride and groom looking for that something extra special. Here the sky is the limit and nothing is too much trouble as customer service and satisfaction are paramount to Amanda's business ethos.
Wedding cakes are baked from delicious tasting sponges and fruit cakes of all flavours and then each tier covered in a rich belgian chocolate ganache before being covered with a high quality sugar paste for the pristine flawless finish.
Should you like to book your cake with Amanda she would invite you over to sample flavours of cake and go through some of your wedding information so that together you can discuss design ideas. She would then draw a final sketch so that you can visualise the beautiful cake you will be having made.
As well as wedding cakes Fairy Hill Cakes can provide a whole array of edible delights such as dessert tables, cookie,cupcake,chocolate and macaron favours, cupcake bouquets and other celebration cakes.

What is your most memorable wedding?
A 3 tier sand castle cake with penguins sliding down the cake and getting up to mischief eating ice creams and fish and chips. I also made a personalised topper of the bride and groom, Jade was in her beautiful wedding gown and Mike in his dirty tee shirt and shorts with his mountain bike helmet and The Simpsons socks! Their littke dog sat at the foot of them both completing an incredibly personalised centre piece. 😊

What about your business are you most proud of?
I'm most proud of my hand modelled sugar pieces. They tend to stand out from the crowd and make people feel really special. Also my strong feelings that customer service is so very important. I strive to do my best for every single bride and groom I have booked in with me and I really do care about how their cake is going to turn out. It's lovely when brides and grooms get back in touch with massive Thankyous and I think, "yey! I did that 😊"
What is your No. 1 wedding planning tip for couples?
Ooh, let me think......
Probably to start early and get a good look around before you make any final bookings. Also from your cake point if view book in the date by all means with your favoured cake maker (hopefully me.....ahem!) but then maybe leave the final designs of it until after you have picked out your dress, flowers and other venue decor. This can really help to design a gorgeous cake to blend really well using elements of your styles.
What is your favourite personal touch you have seen at a wedding?
A bride last year had glittering gold names carved from wood at each place sitting. They looked so beautiful, and stylish but also doubles up as favours and name tags.
Describe your typical process with a couple.
Typically a couple will contact me to enquire. I ask them if they have any styles in mind they like so that I can give a very rough estimate on price. This way we both know from the off if we're a good match on quality and budget.
Then if the couple eoyld like to go further I invite them across to Fairy Hill Cakes HQ were they can sample the delights of my kitchen and we go through a cake design.
I then email over a full quote based on what we discussed and if they are happy eith everything they can secure their date with a non refundable deposit.
