Many couples come back to order christening cakes / baby showers / anniversary cakes from me - Every commission is valued and appreciated, and the fact that my couples come back to share more of their big life events with me and cake is a 'pinch me' moment.
If you know the suppliers, venues etc that you want its never too early to book! Secure your date with your chosen supplier and you can finalise the finer points of your requirements at a later point. Many specialist suppliers only take on a limited number of weddings per week, secure your date early to avoid disappointment!
Secure your suppliers sooner rather than later... if you like a particular wedding supplier, don't be afraid to 'save the date' with them. Most are happy to do so with a small deposit and then you can firm up all the finer points / specifics of your order nearer the wedding date when more of the key wedding details are settled upon.
A bespoke mount Everest cake of course?! The couple got engaged at base camp and I recreated the proposal scene in cake form at the brides request, it was a complete surprise for the groom on the wedding day.
After flying as Cabin Crew for British Airways for 10 years, I decided to start a family. After my children I didn't wish to work away from them so I turned a passion for cakes into a business. I attended many courses & classes to develop my skills and learn new ones. Dollybird bakes was established in 2012, and have grown year on year.
I now have a studio in my home so the commute is not too far!
I was asked to apply for 'Bake Off - Professionals' - I'm camera shy so feel more confident behind the scenes. I think my show stopper would be something costal, being by the sea I love creating sea-inspired cakes - I'm also a lover of brownie and macarons too so maybe they would feature too. I'd need much longer than the few hours they give you in the tent tho, that's a little unrealistic.
