Each wedding I have been a part of has been memorable for a variety of reasons. Whether this has been an unusual cake, working with one half of the couple to create a surprise for them within the cake or just because I have enjoyed working with the couple and creating their dream cake.
Beautiful, elegant, diverse, professional and friendly
When I started making cakes I was self taught. I have worked hard and attended courses to hone my skills and this has led to amazing feedback from my couples and, most recently, being recognised as a regional finalist in the Wedding Industry awards and winner of Lux Life magazine 2019 Best of the Wedding Industry Best for a Wedding Cakes and Celebration Cakes.
It’s your day! Make sure you work with suppliers you are comfortable with and have what you want - not what you think everyone else wants!
A table with a walk through of how the couple met and their lives together so far, with photos of those that could not be with them on their special day. It was lovely to see!
I make an appointment with the couple to meet with them at home and talk about their cake, taking samples of cake in 2-3 flavours of their choice. They sample the cake and we talk about the venue, numbers of guests etc and have a chat about their wedding plans so far. We discuss what they would like their cake to be/say about them and we design a cake based on this. Once this has been discussed I would then go home and email them a quote for their cake and invite them to contact me if they have any questions or wish to make any changes to the design.
Once a couple book with me (confirmed by payment of a deposit) I liaise with the venue close to their wedding date to introduce myself and make arrangements to deliver and set up their cake.
I don’t have a signature cake, as such, but have had many requests for reveal cakes and am happy to accommodate any ideas the couples have to make their cake as personal to them as possible.
Each cake I make is original to the couple - I try not to replicate previously made cakes to ensure that each cake is as unique to them as possible.
Myself and my husband got married almost 5 years ago - and I was surprised at the cost of cakes at that time. I decided to make my own cake with the help of a friend who made birthday cakes for children - and taught myself to make sugar flowers to decorate this.
Once our wedding had passed, I had received a lot of compliments about the cake and ventured into making cupcakes and general celebration cakes.
My first wedding cake was around a year after I first started making cakes and, although stressful at the time, I loved how the cake looked and the reaction of the bride when she saw this! I discovered that I loved making sugar flowers and really loved making wedding cakes. My mantra is they have to taste as good as they look - which I’m told by my couples is the case!
I was, and continue to be, keen to ensure that I make the most beautiful of cakes for the couple at a price that is not elevated unnecessarily because this is a wedding cake.
A beautiful tiered cake that is elegant and eye catching. Nothing too fussy; simple elegance.
