All the cakes I have done for friends
The care and attention to detail that goes into every cake.
Choose your supplier early on in the process and take time to get to know them, and more importantly for them to get to know you. That way the supplier will have a better understanding of how you want it all to be.

The couple make an appointment to come to the Cake Room either by themselves or with another member of the family. We then sit and chat looking out over the beautiful Lincolnshire Wolds with tea and coffee whilst five or six varieties of cake are sampled, and I get to know about the style of the Wedding and what sort of thing they have in mind for their cake. Some come with deffinate ideas, about what they want and some have no idea at all, and it is my job to advise and guide them so their dream cake can be created. This may take more than one visit, but that is fine, and there will be tea and cake every time.
Orange and poppy seed
A 5 tier 'wonky' cake with the bottom tier covered in farm implement adverts, the next tier with horses, the 3rd with British white park cattle and Kerry Hill sheep, the 2nd tier a bale of straw, and the top tier plain but with a tractor doing a wheelie with the Bride and Groom in it. Oh and somewhere there was a Labrador dog.
40 years ago a friend asked if I would make their cake, and after I had baked it I realised it would need decorating. I had to learn quickly! I realised how much I loved it and apart from a short break when children were small I have been doing it ever since.
