Mr and Mrs England's Wedding. As Helen ( the bride) would be becoming 'Mrs England' the whole wedding had a very British theme, and of course the cake was central to this. So I created a wedding cake that had a hand crafted Taxi, with a swinging 'just married' sign. I added a post box with their initials, and English bull dog, and then hand piped famous London land marks on the cake. Of course it was adorned with rolled red roses. It is not often that when I deliver and set up the cake I will see the bride, but Helen came running in and gave me the biggest hug, she was ecstatic with the cake, along with her mum and sister in law. That was such a memorable day, to see my client light up, and know that we had just 'got it'.
Striking, feminine, romantic, whimsical, unique
Every cake has been executed with its own sense of style. No one cake that comes out of the kitchen has ever been the same. They have all been unique to every client, and every cake I have taken on has forced me to push myself and do everything to deliver above and beyond my clients expectations.
Don't be afraid to show off your own sense of style. The day should reflect the personality of the couple. This is the first major planning role the couple will ever take, and they really have to work together as a team. Have fun with it, and throw in touches that tell your story.
Pots of home made jam and spirits as wedding favours, created by the brides family.
Every couple is invited to taste a sample of our most popular cake sponges and fillings. I always suggest couples bring photos, mood boards or colour swatches that they are drawn to, to help get an idea of their style, and the kind of cake design they are looking for. I will draw up various design, tweaking these with the couple, until we come to a final creation that they love. From there, we discuss the payment plan, and I will answer any other questions that they have.
Any design with sugar flower work! But our birch tree wedding cakes have been incredibly popular.
I created a secret garden themed wedding cake July of this year (2016) that was finished in a mauve ruffle buttercream and then adorned with edible flowers such as violas, cornflowers and lavender. I hired out a stand that is covered in reindeer moss, and spiraling branches to finish the look. It has such a unique and whimsical feel.
I was trying to budget for my own wedding, and decided to bake my own wedding cake. I purchased this book by Zoe Clark and was just in awe at what could be created. The edible lace designs, the edible sequins, all the luster shimmer and beading, it was stunning. At that point, I knew I wanted to created wedding cakes.
A cake sculpture of Paul Hollywood, and then I would have steam blowing out of his ears and his eye would light up and flash. It would purely be to see Paul's reaction!
