With our summers getting longer and hotter this is a very good question. Generally I would say fondant iced cakes cope with the heat better but if the forecast is going to be particularly warm and you have booked a naked style cake I deliver them fridge cold and set up as late as I possibly can to ensure your cake is as fresh and perfect as possible. I do also recommend for warmer weddings that cakes are set up in a shaded/cool area to keep them as protected as possible and the cake cutting is done as soon as the speeches are finished. But don't worry I can go through all of this with you and your venue and I always consider the time of year when designing a cake and will make suggestions to ensure it's as weather protected as possible.
If there is a supplier you really want to use book the early as the good ones are usually booked up in advance!
Usually couples will call or email us with their requirements and we ask for some images of cakes they have seen that they like. This helps to give us a good idea of colour schemes, their style and ideas for their special day. Then based on that we can get an approximate quote together for them. If that fits with their budget, they are then welcome to attend a tasting and final design meeting with Chloe. Chloe will then go though everything and after that pull together a final cost. Once the 50% deposit is paid this books the date in and we will then look forward to working on your cake.
I have always baked cakes for my family and it was really just a passion that grew and the more I did and the better I became at doing them I started to turn it into a business.
There really is no longer a standard size for a wedding cake. Since the introduction of the micro wedding they come in all sorts of shapes and sizes and I am always happy to work with clients no matter how big or small their wedding is.
100% yes. This is something I always provide in my quotes and recommend to clients. Delivering and setting up wedding cakes is a stressful business and not something you want to be thinking about on the day of your wedding or asking a family member/friend to be responsible for. It's definitely worth the peace of mind for it to be delivered and set up by a professional!
Generally I work within the Cotswolds and Oxfordshire but am happy to travel further afield but there is an additional cost for this service.
My ability to design a cake for anyone who walks though our door and we generally get a lovely thank you email, card or note within a few days of their wedding. This must mean they really like our work and this makes me very proud and it's what drives me and the team to continue to make fabulous cakes!
