Every wedding is memorable to me, I never take for granted the trust my couples put in me to deliver as part of their special day. It always means so much to me to be able to contribute in such a big way.
Every wedding is special and memorable to me however, there is one that stands out. During lockdown I organised a competition for an NHS worker to win their entire wedding. We ended up with more than 50 businesses involved and a prize worth over £35,000! Our winning couple, a nurse and fire fighter, got married in 2021 and it was one of the most incredible experiences of my life let alone my career. I made their wedding cake and they kindly invited me and my family as guests. It was a beautiful day.
Alternative, eccentric, unique, quirky, bold.

Mini pumpkins with hand painted gold numbers on for tables at a wedding breakfast, the wedding was the week before Halloween.
Mini pumpkins with hand painted gold numbers on for tables at a wedding breakfast, the wedding was the week before Halloween. I also love little things like quotes on place cards, we did this with movie quotes for our own wedding.
Initially I put together a rough quote based on their guest numbers, venue location and any design ideas they may have. Once they decide they want to proceed I book them in for a consultation where we iron out the design and details over a few slices of cake and a cup of tea or coffee. If they’re happy after their consultation then I take a £50 save the date fee which secures their order. In the run up to the wedding I’m available at any time for questions or design alterations. The final balance is paid up to four weeks before the wedding. The day before the wedding I will contact the couple to triple check all the details and wish them luck for the big day. On the wedding day itself I deliver the cake to the venue and set it up. Once the cake is set up and ready I get the venue to confirm it has been successfully delivered and set up and take photos of it completed. I also send a message to the couple with a final wish of good luck. The following day I send a message of congratulations to the couple.
I put together an initial quote based on their guest numbers, venue location and any design ideas they may have. If they’re happy with the price, I take a £100 deposit which holds their date. After the deposit has been paid, I book them in for a consultation which is usually held about six months before the date of the wedding. During the appointment they get to taste their chosen flavours and we iron out the design and details. After the consultation I send over their final invoice and a second deposit of 20% of the outstanding bajnace is then due. The final balance is paid six weeks before the wedding date. In the run up to the wedding I’m available at any time for questions or design alterations. Shortly before the wedding I contact the couple to double check all the details and wish them luck for the big day. On the wedding day itself I deliver the cake to the venue and set it up. I supply the venue with allergen and flavour information for the cake and take photos of it completed.
My speciality is geeky and comic based cakes so I have done designs based on the Avengers, Batman and Game Of Thrones. Any design where I’m able to incorporate elements which represent characters is awesome. I also love adding texture to my cakes.
Flavour wise probably my award winning zesty lemon cake. Design wise, I’m known for my fandom designs. I’m a bit of a geek myself and love working with nerdy themes, especially Marvel!
I’ve done a fair few! One of my favourites was for two artists who wanted something more like a sculpture or installation rather than a cake. I drew inspiration from art techniques and styles to create a very tall cake comprised of varying shapes and sizes.
I created a unicorn themed design for a bride and groom earlier this year, their two daughters love Unicorns and they wanted something that also fitted with their colour scheme.
I started out making cakes for my family for fun after falling in love with baking when I was off of work due to an injury. I made cakes for anyone who would have one for several years, I started the business as a way for my hobby to find itself. I was working full time and went back to college part time for a year also. I never expected it to become what it has. I became busier and busier and decided to take a leap of faith and quit my job to make a go of the business full time. That was in 2018, I haven’t looked back since. I moved in to wedding cakes a year after starting the business, I had initial stayed away from doing them but I made my Dad’s wedding cake and I was getting a fair amount of inquiries from couples wanting something different. I still make celebration cakes because I love doing them but my business is mostly weddings now.
I had been making birthday cakes for years and started my business in March 2016. By January 2017 I’d had a few wedding cake inquiries and I realised that most cake designers are happy to make elegant and traditional or classical looking wedding cakes but less eager to make the alternative and more out there designs! I was regularly making cakes themed around Star Wars and super heroes and figured there were couples out there who wanted those styles and designs for their wedding cake but couldn’t actually find a cake company enthusiastic enough to make it or truly understand the characters depicted. As a super geek myself I understand the characters and storylines which gives me a natural affinity with my clients and their vision for their Cake is so much easier to see when you know what they’re talking about.
My most recent wedding cake design!
A multi tiered cake made up of my zesty lemon, salted caramel and chocolate flavours. Probably a split reveal design with comic book characters on one side. Although, it would never happen because Bake Off doesn’t give you nearly enough time! I’d likely have a breakdown from the time constraints!
