Story Hair and Makeup Full Description
Having graduated from the London college of Fashion with a BA HONS Degree, in Make-up for the Performing Arts. Story founder Lorna Kings took herself off for a year to travel the world. On returning home to London, life as a Hair and Make-up artist commenced. With a passion to work within fashion, she often assisted on London Fashion week with lines such as Superdry and Mouille to name a few. Lorna, has also worked on photoshoots for Magazines such as GQ, Style and Company. Fashion soon moved to a variety of fields, from men's grooming, to commercial advertising, film and TV. Having never considered weddings before, it was only on a friends request to have her for their big day, her new found love of being part of "The Big Day" was born, and weddings became a welcome addition to her skillset. Whilst make-up was her main passion and focus, hair has naturally followed suit and now marries up nicely, to give the full package to cover any needs of the bridal party, aswel as many other fields. Never one to show up empty handed, she is always accompanied by her trusty kit full of an array of products from high end brands, ready to help achieve flawless, lasting Hair and Makeup. This is her story at present, however never one to stick in one spot, she is still open to any brief be it wedding, special occasion, and any other request that may be sent her way.

Find out a bit more from our FAQs

What is your most memorable wedding?

Babington house venue, gorgeous bride in a lovely venue surroundings.

Describe your style in 5 adjectives.

Natural, fresh, boho chic, elegant, creative

What about your business are you most proud of?

All of it, I built it and I work hard to maintain it, within a high standard to accommodate my clients. However, without my clients, there would be no Story.

What is your No. 1 wedding planning tip for couples?

Be honest to yourselves, it's your day so make it everything you want it to be and not what anyone else wants it to be. This is your chance to show the world who you are together as team mates.

What is your favourite personal touch you have seen at a wedding?

Oh god too many to count.

Describe your typical process with a couple.

my process is more with the bride, from having a trial and gauging her ideas/themes for the big day look. This process also allows us to see how we can work together. It becomes a personal relationship of sorts, when you are in someones personal space, as I will be. Just because the trial is complete, this doesn't mean our contact is. I am on hand for any queries from the trials completion to the big day.

What do you love most about your job?

Every bride is different, and this is the best job to meet all sorts of characters and see all sorts of new ideas.

What is your No. 1 beauty tip for a bride?

Drink water, and have a tip top skin regime. You want lasting flawless makeup this is how you'll help achieve it

How do you keep the bride feeling calm on her wedding day?

The process of getting her in the chair to get ready and having less people around fussing, is usually a winner.

What advice would you give to brides to stay looking great throughout their wedding day?

Try one glass of bubbles, to one glass of water. Then less is more, minimal touch ups. If your artist has done a good job, you should only really need a slick of lippy and a dab of powder.
