What is your most memorable wedding?
I recently did hair and makeup for a good friend and colleague who was feeling a little nervous on the day. Her whole bridal party were all big theatre buffs, and I first started working in theatre and musicals, so we ended up putting on a Disney Sing-along playlist to lift the mood. By the end of it the whole bridal party - photographers included - were singing the harmonies and doing the voices. It was a great start to the day, and I always think it's amazing if you can start the morning as you mean to go on!
Describe your style in 5 adjectives.
Relaxed, cruelty free, natural glam and FUN
What about your business are you most proud of?
It's genuinely always an honour to be chosen to be part of someone's big day. It doesn't matter if you've done 50 weddings before - for the bride this is THEIR day and it means a lot of be a part of that.
What do you love most about your job?
Making people feel like the most beautiful version of themselves. I work with a lot of brides who maybe aren't used to wearing a lot of makeup or are worried they will end up looking like a different person. I love that moment where the bride can look in the mirror and go 'wow!' without going 'Who is she?'
What is your No. 1 beauty tip for a bride?
Don't forget your skincare! I am terrible at sticking to a routine so I try to keep my advice as simple as possible to achieve the best results. You don't need to invest a lot of money, but investing a bit of time will make the world of difference not only to how you look on the day but also how you feel in yourself - I always put skincare advice and other tips on my blog too
How do you keep the bride feeling calm on her wedding day?
I like to spend some time getting to know my brides through the trial and planning process so by the day I have a good idea of their kind of sense of humour and style, and how to keep the mood calm and relaxed. I always plan my schedules with plenty of time for tears, tea breaks and toilet trips so nothing is a rush, but I've been known to crack out the bad puns and dad jokes to lift the mood when need be.
